Obviously this author didn't source his information very well. CBS has streamed all their shows day-of(8pm show like Survivor usually goes live around midnight PST) for years(usually the most recent 2 episodes).
They are also very well known for having the absolute worst streaming service in history. Pixelated streaming is The Norm(I watch Netflix and Hulu all the time with absolutely no issue ever, them its like watching block images at most times). For a good long while, they couldn't even figure out how to fix the 'Please Esc To Exit Full Screen Mode' staying on the screen bug, even with Flash fully updated.
So this is coming to iPad and iPhone? Good Luck With That. 8 days after everyone has allready seen the stream off CBS.COM and even then.. you'll probably need the patience of Job when it comes to the quality. Hopefully you guys can shame them into actually upgrading their streaming.
I must know at least a dozen folks just personally who torrent stuff simply because of this time gap, who are otherwise law abiding citizens and who would actually like to *stop* torrenting stuff.
No. They're not. Otherwise they just wouldn't do it.
You (and they) act as though they "have no choice" in the matter. Nonsense.

Most everyone streams from their own web pages. But this is new for an app for them. So far, the streaming quality is just dandy!
I just don't believe anyone is torrenting a CBS show.
I can't see wanting to watch most of what's on, but that's me.
Between the psychotic "reality" television, the sit"com"s, news spun so hard both ways it resets my inner ear and doesn't make me want to vomit, and programming on stations where it shouldn't be (how is Ice Road Truckers "history", again?), there's not much incentive to watch television.
I wonder if, when Apple takes the Apple TV from a hobby to a full-fledged product, they'll invoke the influence of Steve one last time.
The most corrosive piece of technology that I’ve ever seen is called television — but then, again, television, at its best, is magnificent.
You go to your TV when you want to turn your brain off. You go to your computer when you want to turn your brain on. Those are not the same.
And it made a really big impression on me that we humans are tool builders. And that we can fashion tools that amplify these inherent abilities that we have to spectacular magnitudes. And so for me, a computer has always been a bicycle of the mind.
And then a whole new Apple TV box, made to both completely destroy the telecoms' hold on shoving channel packages down our throats AND to revolutionize education, discovery, and games.

Quite frankly, when someone tells me how bad Tv is, and that they don't watch it, I usually tell them "Great, have a wonderful life, but please stop burdening us with your social deficiencies".
As Ray Bradbury, or maybe Arthur C Clark once said: "90% of everything is junk". Or something like that. That includes 90% of everything you like as well. It would be nice if impressions of personal likes and dislikes could be kept out of discussions like this.
Why not? They have the most popular shows. I believe that NCIS is the world's most popular show.
Really? I really haven't watched much network TV ever since Lost and 24. Fringe was good but too many breaks during a season, Last Resort was canceled and I don't know what's going on with Revolution. There's gotta be other great ideas for shows that aren't law enforcement.

I watch a ton of TV but the networks have gotten complacent. They don't give shows a chance to develop a following, how many Law & Orders do we need, or CSIs?

Is your problem with a supposed impossibility of knowing quality without watching? I don't watch BECAUSE of the quality.
And you have to admit that many stations are sending a muddied message with their purpose and actual content. There was a word that started with a D that I had when first writing this reply. No idea where it went…
The tv.com app from CBS Interactive Entertainment previously allowed for full episode streaming. It doesn't anymore now that the official CBS app is out though. So this article incorrectly stated this as being the first chance users have had at full episode streaming on mobile for CBS shows.

Yeah, really. Your shows aren't the only ones, you know. Hated Lost, never watched 24. Never saw Last Resort either. Revolution? I do watch Fringe. Not as far out as some might think, but it will be over this year.
I watch a ton of TV but the networks have gotten complacent. They don't give shows a chance to develop a following, how many Law & Orders do we need, or CSIs?
That's true of everything. Movies, Broadway shows and music are all copies of a winner. Then there are cars, and all other consumer products such as cell phones. Look at how everyone copied the look of the iPhone.

No, you don't watch because you don't want to. THEN you convince yourself that the quality of everything is poor. You just even admitted that. This is the way people think. But if they do like something, then they convince themselves that the quality is high. If we were really concerned about quality almost every sort of entertainment wouldn't be around, because almost all of it is crap, including most of what you do like. And some of what you don't like is great. It's a matter of perspective.
I think that most sports is a total waste of time. I wouldn't spend one minute watching it. I think it's a bunch of pampered, over paid drug users, and greedy team owners. But some here think that's about the only good thing on. How do you account for that? Most movies are crap, but people love watching them.
So if you like something, that means that it must be good, because you couldn't possibly have bad taste. And if you don't like it, it must be bad, because after all, we know that most other people do have bad taste. It's part of the human condition. I'd love for people to just come out and admit that they're walking around with their noses in the air about this.
Then, there's that really cute and adorable girl on a show that guys will watch just to see her, but they'll never admit to it.
That's true of everything. Movies, Broadway shows and music are all copies of a winner. Then there are cars, and all other consumer products such as cell phones. Look at how everyone copied the look of the iPhone.
Tv isn't special in this.
Good and different TV can be easily found elsewhere, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Banshee, etc... do not follow the mold. I wonder how many of those were turned down by the networks and became Emmy award winners.

I wouldn't say CBS has bad shows because I've never seen them but what I do know is that it's more of the same. Last Resort was the last network show I was watching, it was an exciting and different premise from the status quo and it got canceled. The networks have become a slave to the almighty advertising dollar and if a show doesn't pay dividends immediately it's gone.
No, you don't watch because you don't want to. THEN you convince yourself that the quality of everything is poor. You just even admitted that.
Not… no. I remain abreast of modern content, going so far as to pick and choose an episode to watch occasionally. That the majority turns out to be mindless drivel isn't some false perception borne of total disassociation. When available, I'll enjoy almost any educational content put up, as long as it's accurate. That's why I'm bothered by the Discovery channel family, for one, falling into the 'reality' trap.
But some here think that's about the only good thing on. How do you account for that?
The wretched taste and general lack of intelligence that causes these crap shows in the first place.
Most movies are crap, but people love watching them.
I will enjoy a movie because of its content AND occasionally because it's terrible, since I enjoy making fun of them MST3K-style. That people can genuinely enjoy said movies or even "watch them just to watch them" is beyond me. But hey, if it makes you laugh and appeals to you, that's that.
Again, you're just mentioning the shows that you think are good, Emmy or not. And since when is an award in entertainment anything other than politics? Perhaps the "People's Choice" awards are more indicative of what real people think is good. Critics are trained on classic drama. Anything much beyond that, and they're lost.

Your last statement is the closest to reality. We all watch crap because it whiles away the time. I don't WANT to watch serious drama most of the time. Quite frankly, just like most classic literature we were force fed in school, it's often boring as hell.
And picking an episode occasionally isn't always helpful with many shows, where you must know the characters from the beginning to understand what's actually going on. Unless I determine to not watch a show from the first, I'll always watch the first few episodes to get a feel for it before deciding whether I want to continue or not. So I watched the first half of Lost, when I realized that it was overrated (to me), and that the produced were just leading the audience around by the nose. I came back to it on and off over the years, but it was a waste of time (for me).
Some shows get better, and some get worse. It becomes difficult to continue having good ideas after a while. But I like the relationships and banter in a nu ber of shows. That's the most difficult thing to pull off successfully. I like SiFi, and have since I was a kid. So I was disappointed when SG One went off the air. But once the main character decided to leave the show, the cohesiveness of the group fell apart.
And there are much better venues for educational programming then Tv, where it must, by the very nature of the audiences, be watered down to the point of uselessness to those who already know about the areas in which the programming is written. So I find programs about science to have nothing I don't already know, but the pictures and videos are pretty, at least.

You're absolutely right, but a show that wins an Emmy or is even just nominated will get an increase in viewers thus increasing the revenue of it's network. I didn't only mention those shows because I think they're good I mentioned them because they're different. CSI was fresh and different when it came out, but instead of the networks looking for the next 'fresh and new' idea they instead gave us CSI:Miami and CSI:New York, meanwhile there are tons of ideas out there.
