Yikes, that IS a "Seinfeld" episode.

I could imagine B.O. getting into clothing or furniture (fabrics and all), but on something hard and plastic like a computer?

That would annoy me to no end.

Here's a funny B.O. story for anyone interested: years ago, in my late teens/early twenties I worked in a guitar store in my hometown.

We'd get all kinds in there, of course: rockers, punks, Dead Heads, hippies, jazzers, country and bluegrass pickers, metalheads, classical players, folkies, etc.

Anyway, this one guy would come in about once every couple of weeks and just REEK!

This was a small little store (strictly guitar-oriented), so in just a matter of 5 or so minutes, his funk would permeate the entire store, including the back repair room and the two little rooms where we gave guitar lessons.

    Ohmigosh it was horrendous!

He played in some country cover band and he'd come in, usually on Mondays (after the big weekend gigs of playing some redneck shithole dive somewhere in town.

He'd come in smoking, with a mug of coffee, denim jacket and greasy, matted hair. And just STINK. I mean, he woke up stinking, you know?

    Ugh.

    And he's STAY FOREVER!!!

And other customers would come in and I'd be at the counter and I could just see the look on their faces: they'd stop immediately and kinda have to adjust themselves to it before they proceeded in any further.

I'd always have this look like "I'm sorry...it's not me, I promise!"

When this guy would finally leave, we'd open up the front and back door, turn on two fans and spray about half a can of Lysol throughout the joint. But the odor would linger for the rest of the day. We had both our doors propped open on a 38-degree day just to try and freshen the place up!

We just figured this guy took a shower on Thursday afternoon, played gigs Friday and Saturday night, sweating under the lights, woke up Sunday and ran a half-marathon or mowed 4 or 5 lawns, chainsmoked, farted in his jeans all afternoon, went to bed, woke up and came by to visit the store BEFORE going home to take a much-needed Monday-afternoon shower.

It was that bad. I kid you not. I haven't experienced anything like that before OR since, thank goodness!

In my Global class a few years ago, there was this girl from Russia, and she stunk up the whole room, she also did not shave. I would carry my bottle of Curve with me and spray it if it got bad. It was gagging.

pscates: Man, I didn't know you knew my friend Josh. Except for the country thing, that's him. He's in a punk band, and when he goes to any music store he sits and plays everything forever.

You got the smell pretty well described too.

that has got to be a candidate for post of the year

    oh my gooooooood!

now ijerry i sat and tried to imagine, what would make the keyboards smell like that? i pictured him running in the morning, after not showering the night before. then going off to work in a plastic suit in a hot factory, then coming home all sweaty and funked up and sitting down typing on your ibook.

suddenly he gets an itch in his wet clammy sticky underarms and reaches into the muck to scratch, picking up little gobs of stinky grease-like sweat from there. then with the other hand reaches down beneath his underware to scratch his unwashed, unsanitary nether-regions, then rubbing his filthy stained backside hole through his undies for good measure.

it feels good to him when he scratches back there...

and after all that, he puts both pudgy stench-infected hands on your clean, pristine, ibook...
