That's right AI, keep whoring out these Analyst reports and validating their existence. It's because of sites like this, that continually and mindlessly propagate garbage for page views, that these hacks have any influence and credibility.
We all know that a retina display mini is coming and it will be a world wide hit. I have the iPad mini and it is amazing. Now add retina display and a faster chip and you have a mobile powerhouse!!!!
The current iPads are plenty powerful enough for what they are designed to do. Increases in CPU speed, memory and GPU to drive a Retina screen all need to be balanced with battery capacity. A mobile powerhouse seems like an oxymoron to me. The whole purpose of an iPad mini is for light work, media consumption and portability. It already does that. I bought the first iPad as sort of novelty and it did suffer a bit from lack of memory, but the more memory you have, the more battery drain. I currently have the iPad 3 with LTE and the iPad mini with LTE. Honestly, I don't really use them that much except to do some light web surfing on the patio or in bed and check email in the kitchen each morning.
I still prefer my iMac as it is a better experience for most web pages and is infinitely better for any creative, typing or composition work, but to each their own. Personally, I usually buy whatever Apple puts out to see how I like it. You never know how something is going to fit into your daily usage patterns until you give it a try over a period of time. I'll probably upgrade on a two year cycle like I do with my iPhone. I'm certainly not going to rush out and buy a new mini just because it has Retina. I have the Retina iPad now and it is really not that big of a deal in my opinion, although I do like my rMBP, but that is more for the additional screen real estate than anything else.
If a iPad Mini 3 is going to be released in Q1 2014 with Retina display and updated processor - what's the iPad Mini 2 they say here will be released later this year going to have different from the current model?

well the update pretty much says
Apple will release two Retina iPad mini versions, "One in the second half of this year, then one in Q1 of 2014...."
Other than giving some differentiation between an iPad 4 and Mini Retina... I can't see a Retina Mini without some processor tweaks (at least GPU tweaks) to maintain the 'snappiness' of the experience.
Seems like '2nd half' is different than Q3 in the update as well. Sounds more like October than August.

What's FOS an acronym for?
