To all those who got very exercised by my comment on 'does it deserve to exist', maybe my comment was overly elaborate but the bottom line it is that 'derserve to exist' is too smarmy and arrogant by half.
bejeezus, that's the most pretentious comment about any product I have ever heard (implying Apple's do and others might not) or could imagine hearing. One might wonder whether human beings 'deserve' to exist given our track record at extinguishing species. Not saying we do or we don't but at least it's a more relevant use of whether something 'deserves' to exist. It even has faint fascist overtones.
The commercial is about Apple, not competitors. The questions being asked are those they ask themselves about the products they make. It certainly is not pretentious for them to think if their product is good enough or not to be released.
Good god, this is one of the MANY things wrong with people. Too many worry about everyone else - more people should focus on themselves, try to make themselves better, before worrying about what others are capable of.

This is a natural consequence of them holding themselves to a high standard. They can't possibly say no to a whole load of ideas that others say yes to without implying they say no to those too. It doesn't have to come through in their marketing but it's important and powerful for Apple to project who they are as a company. That's how they build an association with their brand.
They have made some ads that came over as arrogant but I don't see that in these ads. They show an obsession with making the right, purposeful, meaningful choices and an emphasis on the human side of technology and that's the right message to convey because that's who they are.
They are quite unique with this type of advertising because other companies try to do the same thing but they don't back it up with their choices so it falls flat. The message is only powerful when it's backed by something and Apple delivers on that repeatedly.
I work in advertising, but for one of TBWA's competitors. I'm just making a simple observation based on my viewing of this ad. A good ad should not bring up thoughts about "race" or that line "does it deserve to exist" that others are commenting on. The focus of the theme of this ad, had it been produced better, could have been stronger... that's all I'm saying. No need to get all bent out of shape on this silly comments board.

Over 10,000 posts on this forum??? Wow, this is obviously a place to get your aggressions out... Just think of all the things you could have done with that lost time...
i love this ad. what i get from the statement "does it deserve to exist" is that apple perfects everything they create before releasing it. like "is it even worth putting it out there if were going to come out with something different in 6months." if the dense people leaving those ridiculous comments would notice that theres only ever been one iPhone. yes, there have been upgrades and added features, but if someone jumped from the original iPhone to the iPhone5 they would be able to use it. thats brilliant. also these similarities exist between the iPads and iPods.
i never comment on any forums, threads, whatever you call them but i just had to express my love for apple and the people that work so hard to make such an amazing product. i've had an iPhone probably about 6 years. also own the iPad2 and iPod mini.

Wow Apple, Yeah you design it but your so greedy you went and got slave workers to assemble it. Only reason your able to design it is cause of USA.People and Apple need to quit labeling Apple as a American company. There the opposite of a illegal Immigrant.

You're just restating your point without explaining it.

Apples answer to the analysts and doom sayers.
Quiet, understated. powerful and universal in its appeal.
OT - gotta love Phils " Can't innovate, my ass !" comment.
Great roll out at WWDC - excellent rebuff to all jerk analysts.

Not sure how a corporation can be a migrant or an immigrant.
Anywhoo, the rest of your post is just rubbish.
Maybe you should consider garbage collection as a vocation.
Don't you have a Samsung orgy to attend?
