When you restored, did you set it Photos to sync from iPhoto in iTunes?

Restore worked. Good thing for manual backups....

Videos are in the camera roll in the album section grouped together. I haven't taken video using iOS 7 yet, so I don't know if it will store it there. Ok, I just made a video and it put in the videos section with my existing ones.

On my 4S the videos are only in the Carmera Roll mixed in with all of the still photos in chronological order, with only a tiny video camera on them to distinguish them. Thus they are hard to locate.

I do have an album called Videos, but it only has one video in it which appears to be from a sync with my Mac. Where as my Camera roll hasultiple Videos in it.

Transferring photos from my DSLR while on the road was why I bought the iPad.  Worked great on the first transfer.  After that it was all downhill.  I was unable to do any photo management at all.  No way to create new albums if I recall correctly. Certainly no way to move photos into albums.  No access to the file system.  No app that would do that either at the time.  The only way to do it was to upload all the photos to the PC with iTunes.  Create the albums there and download them back to the iPad.  So much for the post PC world.  It completely negated the reason for buying the iPad.  So I eventually sold it after 3-4 months of it just gathering dust.

Is there a proper built-in photo album on the iPad now?

I love the new Photos app. I just hope they allow you to choose multiple photostreams when sharing.

That could be nice/wanted. If not, just copy the email addresses before hitting Share and paste it in for new streams.

You might want to look at these Apps on the App Store:

Photo Manager Plus from Linkus -- I really like this app and I have a lot of my photographer clients using it. They like it as well since it allows syncing over browser or FTP wirelessly. They use it live with photo shootings to have clients choose their photos (star-rating) and reordering/organizing of the photos for photo books. (Yes i agree, this should all be built in with iPhoto!)

Picture Life is looking REALLY good if you use different vendors i.e. Windows, Android, or iOS/OSX. It's a cloud-based alternative to iCloud and Picasa (Google)... and allows for syncing with your Facebook, Tumblr, Flickr, Twitter, Instagram, etc. accounts. There's a OSX-native app to sync and add photos, and/or you can manage your photos from your preferred browser.

I wish iPhoto would include some basic functionality such as the ability to get rid of duplicates. I hate having to spend $$ on third party applications to do something as simple and obvious as that.

Perhaps Apple might take an interest in Xumanii, a unique way of sharing photo/video streams.

I spent ages in iPhoto on my Mac organising my photos into albums, and correcting the Faces information. Tis currently syncs over perfectly to my iPhone, and I regularly use Faces to find particular photos. Surely this can't be gone?

The new views should be an addition, not a replacement ...

I don't think Apple is interested in any company that has the word 'bitch' on their homepage.

everything is right there in the Albums folder including all panoramas, videos, events, faces in each their folder accordingly… that's a nice addition specially all the videos placed in one folder and all the panoramas in one folder.

not sure if the camera roll videos are going directly to the Video folder… i think it should not go directly to videos folder as after removing the videos from camera roll it will disappear from videos folder too which sounds scary.

With my iPhone 5, will I finally be able to view a photo after it's taken, on the full 4" screen or will there still be black bars on the top and bottom of the picture? This is something that Apple should have fixed ages ago but have never been criticised for it.

Ghostface, I'm happy you were able to fix it.  Three restores later and still no luck!

I have installed this version on iPad, and find the photos are organized by time, so i can seek easily.

And, i can slide at the bottom to view photos.
