We have had newspaper articles about an Apple Store coming to Sarasota, Florida for several years now. I wish they'd hurry up!
We actually have an Apple Specialist store in Sarasota called Computer Advantage that has been here for 22 years, local-family owned and everything! They are fully authorized and sell a full line of Apple products, offer personal training, and have a full service center for repairs in and out of warranty. Look 'em up, super nice people there and well knowledgeable.
For their sake, I sincerely hope Apple won't open a Store there. Because every time they do, APR's have to either move or close shop altogether.
yeah me too, it's nicer to be able to buy the big company's products but support the small business a bit too.

I do believe that's why the bigger (and first) PDX store went to Washington Square mall instead of downtown: The Mac Store has been in business since the Apple II days and is just across the river from downtown. They're an independent Apple retailer (though formerly doing business as "THE Computer Store") and recently opened (and will soon expand) their third PDX-area location in another mall southeast of town. The same reasoning might also have something to do with Apple not invading Small Dog Electronic's "territory" in VT/NH.
As we know Apple also locates based on demographics and the per-capita income picture fit their criteria for customers of Washington Square as its first PDX location, so much so that Bridgeport Village became the third area Apple store just a few miles away.
