I think we should support this petition on We the People to get it more into the public's eye. I imagine if this could get to 100,000 signatures it would force the president to consider what departments need a closer inspection.

5 years is definitely way too long. It's not that big of a deal with the other media because Apple uses the wholesale model with them already.
It is a two edged sword for DOJ ruling! Now all the publishers hate Amazon. They are always tricks in business world. There is no law for refusing sales to Amazon! No contract does not means, no sales. In some society, a man's word is the contract!
It's trickier than you may imagine to stop selling to a distributor. Especially if more then one publisher does so...

I'm in. Some might say its a waste of time but why not try it. Who knows, we might get a reply.

Apple is appealing, it seems the Judge is appalling.
Not true at all.
Judges very frequently issue stays of their own orders pending appeal. In fact, it's common enough that it's almost universal.
