iCloud uses AWS. I don't know where these outages come from.
AI had an article a few months back that claimed Microsoft's Azure rather than AWS IIRC. Perhaps they use a little of both. FWIW Azure is now bundling in some Oracle cloud stuff too. http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/press/1964592
Maybe Apple should consider less in the way of stock buyback and more on infrastructure?
Yep, you sure know how to run the wealthiest company on the planet, you do.

Apple should be embarrassed.
For what, pre-iOS release maintenance? I don't think so.

Apple uses a different color for planned outages so this one doesn't appear to be planned "pre-release maintenance" does it? Further, how would you explain only 1% thereabouts as impacted if it was just preparation for iOS7 release? I'm not saying it is or isn't but nothing to me indicates it's a outage to be blamed on routine maintenance.

For 1% of users. What a massive failure! I didn't even notice. Should I have?
It says less than 0.1% of users affected for multiple services going offline. That could be 300k people but not a major outage like say Google knocking half the world out:
Which is worse: half the world for 4 minutes or 300k people for 11 hours? The problem with these reports before the services go back up is news sites can't know how many people it affects until afterwards. It is news if it turns out to have affected a lot of people, otherwise it's just talking points for people who revel in seeing Apple fail.
icloud is such a joke, how can anyone tell it's down?
No FTP service anymore, no ability to host a domain here. Calendaring is quirky, doesn't play well with Exchange any more (other users I interact with) and seems to be getting worse.
I'm in the process of moving everything off of it.
There have been rumors of an improved iCloud, but it will need to be mighty good for me to switch back to it.

You deserve Microsoft's services instead of Apple's. Currently the MS Skydrive is down along with several other services.

" iTunes Store - 8:57 AM - 9:42 AM - 16.6% of users were affected"
iCloud uses AWS. I don't know where these outages come from. Never had a problem at my end, so it looks like I'm in the 99% unaffected users part.

Where'd you see that? Did Apple send you a notification warning you? If so, I certainly didn't get mine.
There was a rumor article on AI:
http://appleinsider.com/articles/11/09/03/rumor_apples_icloud_powered_by_microsoft_amazon_servers
And I see both show up in router logs.
Thanks for finding the article. You're right that AI claimed both were being used. I had mistakenly remembered only Azure.

The only thing I find 'perfect' here are the assholes that troll this site.
Yay! Another iCloud outage. I see Tallest Skill is there to cover their asses yet again! Congratulations...I knew you'd be there for them!
Well I'll post it again since it keeps getting deleted. I guess AI can't handle negative comments about Apple.
Yay! iCloud is down again! Its nice to see TS covering their ass like he always does. Good Job!

It's not really even news anymore when iCloud goes down. It is more news worthy when it is actually up.
