I wonder when people will finally start to figure out that Google doesn't really care about Android, Chrome is where it's at for them. The point of Android was to counter Windows mobile and keep iPhone from becoming dominant. Android has done its job. At this point I don't think Google much cares about it.
You know I think you might be right, Google appears to have move on, which make sense, they are not letting their past decisions and investment dictate their future direction. This could be the reason people are leaving since internally it is not given the same level of importance it has in the past.
The only question is we all know Google makes its money in selling ad views, and as the world becomes more mobile oriented google has not won this war, and with IOS cut them out every chance they get it not going well for Google. So how does Google think Chrome will make money for them?
Those personal 'partner' bits sound like a soap opera! "Boss takes employee's gf after dumping wife, employee leaves ..." After that I can imagine the next episode would be, "Ex employee finds way to really screw with former employer by ..." [add your own ending.]
... So how does Google thing Chrome will make money for them?
Best thing they could do is get Chrome on chromebooks, tablets, phones, and their new Chrome TV thing and don't give it away. What other choice do they have? At that point, if they can get enough users, they will have the eyeballs for their ad network.

Apple didn't steal anything from Xerox. They got a bunch of Apple stock that would be worth billions if they had held on to it.
I'm not sure they actually got the stock. They were given the right to buy shares at pre-IPO pricing, but I don't know if they actually did so or not. I also don't know if they may have received shares as a grant.
Either way, it would be interesting to see how much those shares would be worth today. IIRC, the number of shares was 100,000 for $1 M. That was out of 60 M total shares in the IPO. So for $1 M, Xerox would have had .17% of Apple - worth about $700 M today.
Even if they bought the shares and sold them the day after the IPO, they'd have tripled their money.

I'm usually not one for gossip, but I'm kinda curious about this coworker whom these guys are fighting over. Clearly she traded up. She must be quite a special lady with a very specialized repertoire of skills.
It's unclear exactly what Xiaomi does in-house and what they outsource. If they outsource to any companies which are part of the OHA, then they'll still have problems (as we saw with Aliyun).
That was Acer, who made a phone to run Aliyun and then cancelled it at the last minute due to pressure from Google. Acer is a member of the OHA so they have to follow rules to stay a member.
Companies that aren't members (like Amazon) can do what they want and Google has no leverage over them. This is likely one reason that Google is now moving more of Android "out" of Android and into Google Services. This way, members of the OHA get access to all the "goodies" and anyone forking Android is left with a much more "basic" OS that has things "stripped out".

The new "girl" is 26 and she's pretty hot (when compared to Brins' ex). The whole thing is bizarre. Can't Brin keep his pants zipped around other employees? It's just not professional considering the position he's in. Who cares if all the minions are screwing each other - let them have fun. But people in high places should have a little more control. Oh well, sometimes the little head overrules the big head.
Who cares. This doesn't spell the end of anything. The guy was a horrible presenter and from interviews I've seen, a jerk.
I work for one if the largest insurers in the world...we've had our share of this at every level of management. Doesn't mean anything outside of the players involved.
Of course, a few mouth breathers on AI will find this significant.

Given the personal drama and the (apparent) sleeping around, the fact that he is leaving could easily have nothing to do with Rubin.
Therefore linking it to Rubin and Android's position at Google. would seem uncalled for.
Sleeping around at Google: +4 million activations
Ending a relationship with Google co-worker: +2 million activations
Your ex leaves you for Sergey Brin: +10 million activations
Quitting Google: +25 million activations
Staying within the Android Family: +55 million activations
Being discussed on an Apple fan site: +100 million activations
So this new company he is going to work for is going to steal from Android, what Android stole from iOS and what iOS took from Mac OS which stole from Xerox.
You could call it "stealing" from Xerox, IF Apple hadn't bought the rights to the technology and developed the GUI metaphor and frameworks and the hardware way beyond what Xerox had or ever could do. In the present vernacular, once it was purchased, Apple 0wned the technology.
If people would just embrace ethical non-monogamy, the whole serial monogamy thing wouldn't be so newsworthy. It would be more like who's friends with who. What am I saying... the USA lives on gossip. It distracts people from actual important things like how screwed we are by our "leaders" and corporate abuse.
Apple needs to get their large screen phone out, increase the RAM size, get their OS a little more feature rich and give people a little more eye candy and focus on getting the iPhone to be indestructible and they'll do fine.

"ChromePhone"? Oh, the humanity!

You seem to be over using the word steal. Either to force a joke or imply that stealing is just what everybody does?
See that long string of capitalized letters? Might want to read those.

Sergey Brin maybe? I hear he's divorcing.
