9to5Mac says the events are only a couple hours apart. If it is a China Mobile deal wouldn't Apple announce that at the US event? That's huge news for Apple and I could see it really pushing the stock higher.
The China event will probably be exactly the same as the US event.
Meaning Apple will launch 5S, 5C, Apple TV as well as announce a China Mobile and likely DoMoCo deal at the US event. Then hours later at the China event, the same products will be announced and then officials from China Mobile will be there at the China event to talk the details about their new deal with Apple and what that means for consumers there. Likely details we Americans won't care about hence why there will be separate events.

That makes sense. Stock is up over $12 pre market so Wall Street must be expecting a deal.
The main purpose of this event will be to disclose a deal with China Mobile and it will make the share fly! I feel really good about this. No friggin way the 5c is for China only!
iPhone 5c means China? No...un Apple like and the leaked instruction manuals where in Dutch I think. I think it's really obvious it's a China Mobile announcement and its a really huge thing for both apple and CM. the Chinese like in-person communication over informal announcements. This is really more for the Chinese to see how dedicated apple is to succeeding there and respecting their culture.
You have no idea how important it is for Apple to thrive in China. China mobile has the largest subscription-base of any carrier, world-wide. To get even double digit % in that consumer-base is bigger than 100% of any one global carrier. This is huge!

I don't see why Apple would go through the trouble of having a separate event if there wasn't a deal.
Anyway with China Mobile having 700 million subscribers, if Apple captured as little as 10% revenue would surge. Wall Street has a reason to celebrate, and now maybe the stock will have the valuation it deserves.

Yes, more whoring in a land of knock-off garbage that's later copied for government owned companies. Quite huge indeed.

How huge? China Mobile = 700 million subscribers. Just 5% of that = 35 million or just one quarter of iPhone sales worldwide.
Like I said before, one reason Samsung "ships" more phones, is because they have deals with many more carriers worldwide than Apple does. In fact Apple is near to non-existent in India, which happens to be the world's second most populus nation with a rapidly growing middle-class.
Hmm...I can't see Apple building a phone just for certain countries. Have they ever done anything like that before?
You're right and they don't have to now: the new Qualcom chip has the Chinese bands as well as the western ones all covered. Plus there are a lot of well to do Chinese for whom offering only a "cheap" phone would be an insult so the 5S will be sporting that chip and China compatible even were the "C" somehow targeted, which I doubt.
As to Tim: to make such a big deal out of it and then for him to NOT be there would be insulting as well. They were in charge of the timing so I expect it's doable for him to be in China live for the event.

I wonder if Apple is expanding what they offer in the Chinese iTunes store such as music and movies....
Tim Cook sure is enamoured with that country.
Tim Cook sure is enamoured with that country.
It's an emerging market.
Besides, isn't capitalism the best way to defeat communism?

I have a feeling the iPhone's 5 million in 3 days record is going to get smashed this year.
The biggest problem Apple will have this fall is how fast can they manufacture devices to meet demand. Monster holiday quarter coming right up.

There are probably no greater capitalists in the world today than the Chinese.
Not sure why he would even try.
Apple has a very "California" image. Apple isn't trying to be a Chinese company, but a very California one.
How did you arrive at that conclusion?
They capitalize every word.

Just curious... what kinds of phones do people buy on China Mobile?
The iPhone 5C will be the cheapest new iPhone ever offered... but it will still be a rather expensive phone compared to other phones.
What I'm asking is... how many of those 700 million China Mobile subscribers buy phones at $400+ ?
Hmm...I can't see Apple building a phone just for certain countries. Have they ever done anything like that before?

On another note: Secrecy anyone? lol
You'd have to be the definition of completely clueless to think the 5C is "just for China".
