How long till iPads and MacBooks have this integrated into the power button?
Probably 1-2 years (3 at max). I sorta think the trackpad will be where macs have it.
This added security is okay yet will probably be little value till IOS 8.
Of course it won't work through a Band-Aid or a scab. That's why you can store the prints from several fingers. If all your fingers have Band-Aids, you should be more careful with sharp things!
So, If "S" means security, what "Security" has to do with Iphone 3GS, Iphone 4S??
Come on, if don't know what to say or write, better be quiet.

AI typically does reviews of many aspects of a phone. "S" for security means, this article is focusing on the security features of iPhone 5s. Apple didn't say "S" was for security, for them it is just a model number.
Apple's new Touch ID fingerprint scanner, which is exclusive to the iPhone 5s, aims to address these frustrations while at the same time providing even better security when accessing an iPhone.
I don't think Apple regards Touch ID as providing "better" security than a password, the focus is purely on "effortlessness" as you mention later.
It's intended as an easier, but slightly less secure, way to authenticate to your phone. We can tell this because if you restart your phone, or don't use it for 48-hours, then you have to enter the password, the touch will no longer be accepted.
The way I view Apple's new auth model is that previously they had two levels of security: the last 5 minutes, and anything longer. I'm talking about the "sudo effect:"
- Entered password in last 5 minutes: automatic auth
- Anything longer than 5 mins: password required
They have added an additional layer now:
- Entered password in last 5 minutes: automatic auth
- Entered password in last 48 hours, but longer than 5 mins ago: fingerprint auth
- Entered password more than 48 hrs ago: password required for auth.
We can see from where the new layer is (in-between the old two, and not the new highest layer) that Apple regards this new feature as more about enhanced effortlessness than enhanced security.

Your kids are going to do that? You got worse problems than phone security

Not everyone. Some like their phones the way they like their women

Has there ever been a more ironic post on this site?
