Nike+, Chrome, Pocket receive makeovers for Apple's just-released iOS 7
The wave of iOS 7 redesigns continued apace Wednesday afternoon, as Pocket, Nike+, and Google's Chrome browser were all updated with tweaked interfaces in line with Apple's fresh new mobile operating system.
Version 4.6 of popular web-clipping solution Pocket brings both a new design and new features. On the design end, Pocket has seen changes to every screen in the app, as well as a new icon to complement the new, flat look of iOS 7. Pocket also now has a new layout and typography for reading articles, with auto-fullscreen when a reader starts scrolling in Article View. That layout also adjusts automatically when adjusting text size, and it justifies text with real hyphenation to give a better reading view.
The update also includes instant background sync, allowing it to stay refreshed on a user's saved items even when the app is closed. Additionally, version 4.6 has a number of improvements to make the app feel speedier and more fluid.
Version4.6 of Pocket is available as a free download in the App Store. The 16.3MB download requires a device running iOS 6.0 or later.
In addition to the new look, Google has tweaked the Settings user interface in its browser, and it has further tied Chrome in to Google's own micro-ecosystem on iOS. Now, Maps and email links will launch in Google Maps and Gmail apps if they are installed on a device. Users will have the option to change those settings should they choose to do so.
The new version of Chrome is a free, 24.7MB download in the App Store. It requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod running iOS 6.0 or later.
Nike has also improved the locking mechanism of the app. Users can now hold down the lock button on the bottom of the screen in order to quickly lock and unlock a phone while running.
The new version of Nike+ Running is a 49.2MB download in the App Store. The free download requires a device running iOS 6.1 or later.

Chrome gets a new look, more Google integration
Google has updated Chrome for iOS to version 30.0.1599.12 along with the launch of iOS 7, giving the app and its icon a look to match the new flat norm on Apple's platform. Nike+ gets refined to work with iOS 7

Yeah, I think I prefer my browser not to decide whether or not the quality of my experience is diminished, thanks.
Of course, google ties their stuff in to its own micro-waste-Ads-ecosystem.
If you don't want map links to open in Google Maps, just change the settings. Users now have a choice.
Both Chrome and Firefox are on approx. monthly update schedules. It's easy to do as both browsers have update features baked into the browsers and there's no benefit to waiting on security updates and bug fixes. MS Explorer is probably moving that way too. Apple has so far chosen to release all the patches in batches, barring something critical. To be fair it's reported to be much more difficult for Apple to issue Safari updates as it wasn't set up that way but I'll be surprised if Apple won't soon move to the same monthly schedule. While Safari used to see infrequent updates there's been at least 7 in just the past 12 months. Safari on the Windows platform is abandoned with no security and bug fixes for some time now.
