They are going to pad this quarter with a few million but the majority of sales always get pushed to the holiday quarter. So if Apple only DECIDE to sell 5 Million this weekend they are doomed and we hear the supply restraint bs for a month. The demand is the real story. We see this every year. Apple should be well aware of last years sales so if they come up short this weekend, one would have to question their intent......Theres noway they can/should followup this incredible day of consumer demand with weak numbers on monday!

Sales for the 5 were 5 million last year. Estimated demand was around 6 million. One would really have to question if leaving 20% more of its business on the table was intentional or not. By the looks of things Apple is leaving even more of its business on the table this year.

What? Did they stop making iPhones after the first weekend?

That's a valid point but there is always the potential of turning away new customers that are sitting on the fence, who then decide to stick with Samsung or whatever Android phone.

[... and there are always those people who decided to buy a 5S just because it's new... but upon arriving at the store and not being able to buy the phone of their choice, they decided to skip the whole thing until next year because, after thinking about it, they didn't need a new phone after all. ]

Over a year period Apple could be turning away a lot of customers with its constant shortfalls.

And the analysts prediction that they were so sure about was 50% short.
