The UK's NHS is treated as sacrosanct by many. Having said that there are plenty of reports revealing shortcomings and there are constant reviews and periodic lurches in policy towards more effective delivery.
Private healthcare is viewed by many as undermining the public provision - as whoever is working privately obviously can't be working for the public system at the same time. I'd like to see a system that provides good healthcare as broadly as possible. It doesn't have to be provided by government employees.
It is wonderful to know that you will be cared for regardless of your assets. That's fine. But is it sustainably affordable? The UK's nasty 'austerity' government has to borrow 2.2 billion Sterling EVERY WEEK to pay for public services. The UK electorate don't want to know this. What needs to happen, to protect the healthcare system, is to drastically reduce spending on Defence, Education, Welfare - and Old-Age pensions and allocate the savings to the health system. But the The UK electorate don't want to know this.

Anywho...
Blackberry made quality-engineered products loved by many and still do. It's sad to see such a cataclysmic demise. Why all the hate? I hope Canada can retain its talent, mostly developed by its publicly-funded education system. After all, It's in Apple's interests that Canadians have jobs - so that they can afford to buy Apple products!
So let them stay up north and starve, their choice. They are not exactly essential.

And yes, Apple's bad period was due to bad management.

Apple ][ - obnoxious much? That third quote makes you sound like something out of American History X. "As long as it's deserved, then they deserve to be kicked." - Not the sharpest tool in the shed, ey. Because that soundbite is a perfect example of circular reasoning or "begging the question" (google it) and actually translates to: "People deserve to be kicked (for what I think is the right reasons).".
Chill out dude, this is a comment section about Apple and not your local NRA meeting.
"Canada barely registers a faint blip on my radar." - Wow, you couldn't have better underlined how far-sighted I think you are.
There's no way Canadians will move to sunny California to make a lot of money - they love the four seasons and the freezing winters most of all. Plus, being patriots, they rather be unemployed than work for the evil company that brought down Blackberry.
