Just picked up 2 of the PLAY1's and they sound fantastic.  Stereo paired, they fill my entire family room with plenty of volume and great clarity and bass.

On your comment - they do have a standard speaker mount hole in the back right above the ethernet port.

My Play:1 is "out for delivery" this morning. It'll join a 3 and a 5 which I've had for quite some time. Glad to see a moisture-resistant version, it's going in the master bathroom.

I wonder if Sonos could deliver an updated bridge which supports Airplay directly.    The advantages here are clear.  You

have a friend that comes over and wants to play a music track for you.  Airplay allows you to put his/her phone on your Wifi

    and then access the speaker.

It would appear that if this is feasible Sonos would be able to Airplay their speakers without costing their existing user base

    a lot of money.

Got mine today, joined the existing Sonos wireless network and was playing in about 10 seconds flat. This is one fantastic speaker, in fact, I'd say it has better sound than my Play:3 as long as china-rattling bass isn't a must-have. If I need another Sonos speaker, it'll be either a 1 or a 5. No reason to pay a hundred bucks more for the 2 over the 1.
