Rumor: Apple field testing 'iPhone 6' with 4.9-inch display

I don't want a bigger phone, but a bigger screen is always nice. The only way they can do this (and I've been saying this for at least since the iPhone 5 rumors) is to make the thing ALL SCREEN. This would be a crazy achievement if they can do it since they would have to embed the TouchID, speaker, camera, and proximity sensor into and behind the screen, or possibly on the very edges of it. That would be pretty amazing though..

%u200BIf the dimensions become any larger... it'll be sad. It'll sell like an iPhone, but it'll no longer be the iPhone.. https://vidd.me/2HW

Someone needs some reading comprehension skills. Distilled: What “the trend” is and what “analysts” say ? reality.

    Sorry, but them’s the breaks.

Looks like you got "breaks". What the trend is and what analyst say does = reality. Your argument is now void and hummer phones will be everywhere.

    No, try again.

No, you can try again to guess what's gonna happen next year. You've been wrong 2 years in a row now. Why not make it threes a charm?

You’re missing the operative word here.

I'm done with you. You've been proven wrong already. Why don't you just man up and admit that not all apple users are in your idealistic world. Today two larger iPhones were released and the majority of the world is pleased. What will you do when the 4" screens become obsolete?

I’ll have been using my iPhone 6 for a decent amount of time by then.

Damn. 4.9 would actually have made a very nice difference over the 4.7 screen they settled on. Google/Moto/Samsung are currently triangulating on the 5.1/5.2 which I feel will ultimately be the final choice for ideal screen size. 4.7 is a little too small for readable display and 5.5 is just a little unwieldy for everyday use.

Wow. This may be the most overly sensitive forum I've ever posted on.

I joined because I bought an iPhone 6 and wanted to post another topic in a different area. I commented here just because I was browsing and saw the thread.

Please forgive me for owning non-Apple phones in the past and having a different perspective.

Reviewing my comments, I'm still having difficulty seeing how I've offended so deeply. Whatever you do, don't read today's New York Times which basically summarizes exactly my opinion on the iPhone 6 screen size choices. I guess they are infidels too.

My only concern is with your claim that smaller sizes aren’t readable. You’re entitled to your opinion that screens will “normalize” at 5”. You’re completely and utterly wrong in every respect, but at least you presented it in a form that wasn’t trolling.

Yes, they’re staffed with idiots. What’s your point? Do you not believe a newspaper can be wrong? Do you not believe the NYT can be wrong? That’s terrifying.

    I agree, nothing trollish.

However 3.5" is readable. I think 5" is just too big.

As for NYT, two words: Mike Daisey.
