Rockstar Games is set to bring a third installment of the wildly popular Grand Theft Auto series to iOS featuring support for Made for iPhone game controllers, while Epic Games has made mobile blockbuster Infinity Blade free for a limited time.

The App Store experience seems to have been positive for Rockstar Games, as the New York-based developer announced Tuesday that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be available on iOS beginning in December. GTA: San Andreas will join GTA: Vice City and GTA III on Apple's mobile devices.

Rockstar says the mobile version will feature newly remastered graphics, a longer draw distance, an enriched color palette, and enhanced 3D models.

GTA: San Andreas will also sport the ability to use Made for iPhone game controllers -- like Logitech's PowerShell and Moga's Ace Power --?as well as a different touch control scheme from its siblings and a new mobile-friendly checkpoint system.

Epic Games has chosen to offer the first episode in the epic Infinity Blade fantasy series for free during Thanksgiving week. Infinity Blade was the original "triple-a" style game franchise for iOS, and its three installments have clocked tens of millions of downloads since franchise's release three years ago.

Infinity Blade requires iOS 3.0.2 or above and Epic says it will run on devices as old as an iPhone 3GS. The game also features Game Center support and graphics driven by Epic's still-impressive Unreal Engine 3.

Infinity Blade is available as a free, 624-megabyte download from the App Store until the end of the week.

Be great if they updated Vice City to support the controllers.

I'm amazed at the quality of games the iDevices can run... Games that once required a desktop PC to run without lag...

GTA worries me greatly. I don't care about the rules, the plot or the points. I just want to kill people! :\

I wouldn't be surprised if they did.  The Android version supports controllers already including MoGa.

San Andreas was running on Playstation 2, with all the "might" of 32MB RAM and 300MHz CPU/150MHz GPU clock.

Modern smartphones and tablets should be able to run circles around that.
