Couldn't? Pretty sure she can. Pretty sure she did at the Super Bowl...

    Yep, I was right.

I guess she figured she better learn it ASAP for "the big game".

The significance of this isn't that she released an album on iTunes. It's that Jay-Z did something similar this summer when he released Magna Carta through that stupid Samsung App (that crashed, didn't download songs for others, and collected lots of personal information).

The real difference between these album releases (besides the sales) is this:

    - Samsung paid Jay-Z a huge chunk of money for the publicity stunt of having his album available to Samsung users first.

    - Beyonce is taking advantage of the best music store in the world (iTunes) to launch her album. I doubt Apple had to dole out millions for her to consider it. All Apple probably did is offer up the banner promotions.

I wonder what Jay-Z will think when Beyonce's album on iTunes absolutely kills the sales figures he got by making that deal with Samsung.

Jay-Z most likely wonder about making drunk love with his wife celebrating the fact that this year they both earned a gargantuan amount of money!

    From your own link:

However, the band and the singer had decided Sunday night to use a precorded music track, since they were unable to coordinate a time for a full rehearsal. "She wasn't comfortable performing without a rehearsal, and I wasn't comfortable that either," he said. "We always knew that was a possibility." Every singer in yesterday's inauguration had a "safety" track at the ready in case weather, temperatures, or instrument problems arose at the last minute

I've never performed in front of a crowd like that, I don't know what's involved in performing for the president – but I'm sure she knows the words as she has sang the National Anthem many times.

From Wikipedia, “The standardized version that was voted upon [sic] by these five musicians premiered at Carnegie Hall on December 5, 1917.”  So the song hasn’t changed since then.

If she would just sing the song and not try to do her own R&B interpretation I’m sure it would have come off just fine.  Hundreds of “lesser” singers perform the song weekly at hockey, football, baseball, and basketball games.  Just think Canadians not only have to perform their national anthem but ours as well whenever a team from the U.S. visits.  This would probably make her head spin.

Why do you feel the need to make her seem stupid? She can obviously sing the national anthem:

And her new is great. You sound petty about someone with talent.

Not petty, just disgusted at these infallible idols media our outlets seem to worship praise on.  This whole story is something I would expect to see on an AOL.com weblog, not Apple Insider.

Then ignore articles about them. This is relevant to Apple because its exclusive, not one knew it was coming (generating more buzz for iTunes), and it's a video album. Besides, no one said they are infallible. The album is quite good though. I've gone through the whole album 3 times this weekend.

If they must report on her then take the good with the bad.

Do you want a "super star" who couldn't perform the national anthem live representing the future of entertainment. Surely there are more deserving entertainers who actually give a real performance when they go on stage.

I think using someone like her tarnishes the brand image. If it wasn't for her famous boyfriend/husband whoever he is, she would have been gone a long time ago.

Ok, you obviously have a different taste in music than many other people. We will leave it at that since the things you are saying are not true about the even (yes she can sing the national anthem, the link i posted kind of proves it) nor the level of her talent ( she is one of the most gifted vocalists in pop music). If you see her live she does give a true performance and the lip-syncing at the inauguration was not conducive to typical performance from her. But if you would rather not know that then, well... carry on with your opinion.

Well as you can see for the other posts in this thread my opinion is not in the minority but for some reason you felt to solo me out.  I too posted links to where she's a fake.  To be honest it doesn't matter.  In a few years she'll be replaced by the next “talented” young singer we’re suppose to all admire.
