Fox to stream Super Bowl XLVIII live on website and iOS app
For the third year in a row, the Super Bowl will be live-streamed online to American football fans in the U.S., as Fox Sports plans to make the game available free through its website and for pay-TV subscribers via its iOS app.
One day after CBS announced it would be making its coverage of the AFC playoffs free to view online, Fox Sports -- which has the rights to Super Bowl XLVIII -- said it too would be offering up Internet streaming, reports Variety.
In addition, the broadcaster will also be serving up the full game, including halftime performance by Bruno Mars, to users of its FOXSportsGO iOS app. There is one stipulation, however, in that iOS devices may only access the content after signing in through a participating provider.
Currently, the FOXSportsGO app is partnered with AT&T U-verse, Comcast XFINITY, Midcontinent Communications, Optimum, Suddenlink and WOW!, though Fox is adding "new TV providers every day."
The big game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. EST on Sunday, Feb. 2, when this year's AFC and NFC champs are set to clash at MetLife Stadium. Fox will be streaming live at foxsportsgo.com and through the FOXSportsGO app, which can be downloaded for free via the iOS App Store.

Keep cutting the cords. They will get the message.
Thanks, Fox, for ensuring I don't waste 4 hours watching a dumb football game.
I agree. That chord cutting has to eventually take place totally! Maybe it will take the Netflix approach and they or similar companies have to find ways to source content other than from the old guard. As Netflix and other streaming companies start contracting directly for such things as Super Bowl, Olympics, Football (as in the real thing AKA soccer), F1 and so on, as I am sure they will more and more over time, Comcast and Verizon et al have to change or die. The big question is the actual physical connections to we the people. IMHO the infrastructure needs to be owned and operated by companies not actually providing content thus ensuring net neutrality. That or by Apple and I will change my tune totally on that last point
Actually, without that darned cable subscription, nothing is all you will see ... But I am pulling your leg, I agree it's a pain. We get Comcast cable as part of the HOA fees here where we live and until recently it was limited to non HD. We never used it and have Verizon FiOS and use Apple TV and Netflix. The HOA renegotiated and at no cost we now have basic HD and now I can access much of the extra stuff on Apple TV by laboriously entering codes on various web sites sites to prove we have HD subscriptions. However .... many say the HD subscription account we have doesn't include this or that. So, even with a cable subscription for HD, unless you also subscribe to upgrades, you still can't watch many streaming stations via an app.
I loved the way the US Open Tennis was done. A free App, no requirement for a bloody cable account and limited ads and tons of ads on court. Mercedes and a few others seemed to have pulled this off very well. I would be interested to know how that worked out for everyone involved and if it was profitable. It was an amazing App with the choice of any match on any court from a very simple GUI and all games that were over could be watched again. It was a model for how all such events should be done. Unfortunately the likes of the Olympics are sewn up by NBC (I assume it's NBC, not checked) and this probably won't happen for many years in such events.

Yep...ur right Digi. I've cut the cord for about 6 years now and I do miss Television. Especially, F1 (Not so much since Senna's death), Tennis (Not so much since Agassi retired), Golf (Only when Tiger is playing.) Can't watch American open wheel racing because of the over-exuberance of the announcers. Can't watch NFL anymore b/c of too many commercials, delays and the unnecessary hyperbole again, of the announcers. It just takes too long to watch the NFL 4 hours, Ugh!. And I miss, Fareed Zakaria's GPS on CNN-The best news show on TV. I remember first watching Fareed on This Week with G. Stephanopolous, and Fareed would give George Will fits with his informed "world view" which surprisingly Will lacks.
But it seems, watching everything online other than some PBS and movies (netflix) is difficult. Especially, sports.
Cable included in the HOA fee is the less painful way to go! Good job!
Best
Not that I'm interested in watching the #1 'Murican Idiot spectacle of the year, but it just continues to be absurd that they think it makes sense to: Charge for you cable, then tell you don't even turn it on, you can use your iOS device to stream it "free". Ludicrous.
I'll stream it over Aereo. Keep cutting the cords.

"Sign In with your TV provider to watch now."
If your house was already wired with cable you just need 1 antenna in your garage or attic or whereever your paid cable was coming in before.
I recommend the Winegard Freevision fvhd30 antenna.
Hopefully everything will be streamed soon enough.
