LOL.  Ok.  You are entitled to hate as many people as you like.  Personally, I choose not to invest that much emotion into corporate executives who I've never met, but that's just me!

I'll believe Apple could do Internet search when searching in spotlight, the iTunes Store or internally within Xcode is faster than an Internet search ( well the iTunes Store is an Internet search but it routinely takes seconds and doesn't correct.). Apple can't do search, they don't have the capability.

Just dump them from the Apple Stores.  No need to drop their App for the AppStore.

That's no big deal.  Home Depot is selling them now.  They'll be fine.

Although Honeywell is trying to put them 6 feet under in court, Google will help them fight back.

Why would they? On what grounds? There are many googlecentric apps out there.

That was my point to the original poster, Paxman.

    That’s your call, not mine.

Apple, I believe, does not service the Nest device so don’t see how anyone would complain. As to buying on “Apple’s hype’, what ever does that mean? Apple sells lots of third party devices in is stores. Some stay on longer than others, so getting the pom-poms out over a thermostat seems a might odd.

    .

As to apps, taint porn is it? Apple is not vindictive like some, so can’t see them following your advice.

Google probably figured "It costs less than Motorola.  Must be a bargain then."

But really, 3.2 Billion?  Lenovo bought IBM's X86 server division for less than that.

First they throw away their money on Moto, now this.  The three stooges of Google might be going through the five stages of grief sooner than they think seeing as they have no conception at all of the value of money.

Is Google's board made up mostly of poodles?

And what a ridiculous statement to make. Your company was bought out by a competitor, thus doing away with any reason for them to keep any meaningful ties with your company *by default*.

Looks like the Google brain cell decimator (aka Schmidt Syndrome) is already well at work on Tony, however.

With $3 billion in the bank, I doubt Tony really gives a rat's ass about anything about Nest, what anyone thinks, or any other notion outside of relaxing on a $200 million yacht in the Caribbean sipping MaiTais with the entire Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders as they fight over him.

I always wonder how hard it would be for a company of Apple's size to produce an awesome search engine on their own with great results. It would really be the last spike hammered into Google's head as far as Mac and iOS platforms go. They have the know how, server farm experience and the money. I think Apple should take a massive cut out of Google's search ad revenue.

Fadell had nothing to do with software at Apple. And iOS 7 isn't shit.

The dozens to hundreds of folks who worked on the iPod at all phases of engineering should stop letting asshats like him take the credit.
Not just the iPod. According to his bio on Nest's website he's taking credit for 3 generations of the iPhone too.

Father of iPod...Uf, the original circuit boards came from PortalPlayer. Tony just brought that design to Apple and sold it to them. Apple took it and changed it all around... By the way, many companies were bringing Apple hard disk based MP3 player designs at the time. PortalPlayer strength was the operating system which was later replaced by Apple.

This is like me punching you in the face, after which I say, "Well, it's up to you on whether we remains friends or not," placing the burden on you to defend the behavior that prompted me to punch you in the face in the first place.

    I think somebody got confused...

Fadell has been called the Father of the iPod by some of the press while at the same time Rubinstein was know as the Podfather.

It may also be bestowed as an honorary title to a pioneer in a particular field, especially in musical genres...

If Apple wanted the company they would have bought it. There was no offer. How were they "punched"?

    *breaking news*

    Wait. What?  Bought by Google?!

*Attention AI fans, Nest is now the enemy.  Attack!*

Wow.  Comments like this, and others shouting that "it's just a thermostat" are SO short-sighted.  This is Google's entree into the connected home, which is probably the next biggest growth area of consumer electronics and technology.  All you're doing is looking at what Nest is today, and not imagining what it could be in the future.  Thank goodness Google's leaders (the "three stooges" as you call them) have more vision than you do.
