Grammy-nominated West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar is set to headline the second day of next month's iTunes Festival in Austin, Texas, the latest lyrical luminary to appear at the event's U.S. debut.

iTunes Festival

Lamar will be joined on stage by fellow Top Dawg Entertainment recording artists Schoolboy Q and Isaiah Rashad, rounding out the condensed five-day festival that will also feature performances from Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Soundgarden, Pitbull, Keith Urban, and Willie Nelson. The current iTunes Festival lineup is available to view at the official SXSW site, and more artists are promised to be revealed in the coming days.

Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, Lamar made his major label debut in 2012 with "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City." He is the recipient of seven Grammy nominations including Best New Artist and Album of the Year.

The addition comes one day after Apple added legendary rockers Soundgarden to the bill.

Traditionally held in London, Apple announced last week that the iTunes Festival would make its stateside debut at this years's rendition of the annual South by Southwest music festival. Music fans unable to make the trek to Texas will be able to watch the performances live on their Mac, iOS device, or Apple TV.

Never heard of him before so I hit up YouTube.  Apparently his most popular song is "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe."  Sounds like a real class act.

Sounds like you're tying to kill his vibe

It's very common for songs to be written to get back at a singer's ex.

I don't think it has to do with his ex, just a way of saying "don't ruin my good time"

Hi, I'm Jack Ass, an analyst with Dart Throwers Equity Partners. After current analysis, which involves watching the market, using a Ouija board, and throwing literal darts at a spreadsheet on the wall, we have decided to inform our institutional investors to dump all of their AAPL stock based on Kendrick Lamar's choice to be in the iTunes Music Festival.

We would have preferred if Apple has selected Slick Rick instead, and this is the reason we feel that Apple no longer has the clout with the "in" crowd to continue to innovate and churn out truckloads of me-too products, which analysts like me love to see, as it proves to the world that a company is "making stuff." We don't care what they make; just make "stuff."
