because you can mute the sound independently of the computer's system... that is you can mute it manually, just before you start the computer.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Ok, my question was really stupid. I totally forgot about that.

Now that I have a real sound card, I think I'd rather take something that can use it, and that means no Soundsticks.

I have the Sound Sricks on my Mac and the Creatures on my PC.

Ordinarilly the Sound Sticks are better speakers, but I recently installed the Creative Labs Audigy 2 soundcard on the PC, now the Creartures sound better than the Sound Sticks!

    What soundsystem would you recommend?

    Harman/Kardon's SoundSticks or JBL's recently announced Creature?</strong><hr></blockquote>

I had the soundsticks for 2 years. Very good and great design. Then I got a new mac a week ago, so i bought a cheaper set of 2100 altec lansing speakers (50% of price). This was going to be my speakers for teh backup computer.

Low and behold, they actually sound much better and are much more powerfull than the soundsticks!!!!!!!!!!!! So go with these:

Here is a link to UK site with photo/pricing/etc. But you can get in states:
