thanks a lot. you are like that kid in school who announces to the class that he has 20 cupcakes, but he only gives it to his friends(.if he has any) and also the teacher

    "Ms.Pennyfeather, I have 20 cupcakes"

other kids say:"Can we have one?"

    "Are you my friend?" <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

I personally wouldn't pay $99 for an iPod for its PRIMARY use. As a FW HD, perhaps I would. But, not for just the music capability I wouldn't.

Who can afford 1,000 songs nowadays?

I remember when CDs came out in 83 while at McCutcheon hall with a friend who just got his new Yamaha (remote-less) player for $500. CDs were starting out at about $13 - 15 IIRC. That was about equal to the good high-quality vinyl being put out at that time.

BUT, the promise was that CDs would really, really come down in price in the long run. Well, they might have come down in manufacturing costs ALOT, but that savings has not been passed onto the consumer, EXCEPT for the Slim Whitman rejects and countless scores of Classical music for under $10.

So, I have a hard time getting excited about paying for 1,000 songs' royalties. And since I don't pirate any music, I guess that ends it for me.

But, I really do think an iPod lite would be nice. A hundred songs I could see, if the price was right. Of course, it would still have to function as a FW HD for me. Without that, I wouldn't bite except for sub $75 pricing.

Hey, Mac, man, hook us up and you've got yourself a free iPod! I'm not sure how we would work out the exchange, but I'm serious about the deal!

This "fruit company" wouldn't happen to be Apple would it? Since Apple employees get iPods for half price and all.

    /me goes back to playing with his iPod <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

I own way more then 100 CDs and the fact that I can put 1000 songs from all of my favorite CDs makes it worth it. I have a CD player in my car and a tape deck. So now I can just hook up the iPod in the car and never have to worry about changing CDs. I can bring almost all my music with me everywhere...and it fits in my shirt pocket!

The reason why I want an iPod is because I'd like to have an MP3 player and I could use a little extra HD space sometimes so I think the iPod is a good choice for me.

The iPod is one of the best MP3 players out there, but it's just too expensive. At the right price though ($200), it's well worth it though.

Man, I don't think I know anyone who doesn't own at least 100 CDs... In fact, I think at last count we had around 300 CDs in our house.

It's really not THAT big of a deal to own 1000 songs.

I have ALOT of music, hundreds of cds and mp3s I could make great use of an iPod.

I also have two truntables by which I play vinyl lol!

I actually REALLY like vinyl, albeit a bit dated its still cool, I love how its so non digital for a change it feels like I can actually touch the soundwaves coming out of it

    yes and no

for 5 gigs of firewire tiny-ness I think the price is just about right

250 would be way more reasonable 200 would be a total steal since it is an HD based player, the reason its getting flak for being expensive is because it operates like a flash based mp3 player only with more space and alot better

the iPod has all but my super zealous pc friends totally drooling, the one guy that won't admit its awesome has about 1000 mp3s and a nomad mg2 with 192 megs of ram

he only encodes at 128 and his only real grips on the ipod is its lack of microphone and that he is totally anti-apple, how come so many windows users are anti-apple when they know little or nothing about it, I know alot about windows, I'm not ANTI-windows I just think Macos and apple have the right idea and are doing it much better.

but then again MILLIONS of people out there probably don't even know what an Apple is compared to a pc

Hook me up with an iPod and I'll make it worth your while.

Let me put it this way: if you give me an iPod, I swear I will not rat out your friend.

    It's your choice, choose wisely.
