We hammer on them about the slowness of the boards, the extended downtime of the boards, the resetting of everyone's accounts, etc., etc.

There's PLENTY of stuff to hammer the moderators about without bringing the rumor updates into it. </strong><hr></blockquote>

    1) The boards are not slow. They are on a Dual 1000MHz machine with SCSI and 2GB of RAM.

    2) The boards have not been down once since the new MacNN/AI server was implemented.

    3) You can complain about accounts to the company who, without notice, terminated all of its customer's service resulting in complete loss of data.

    4) All moderators do is keep things under control (Close threads, move threads etc.). Administrators deal with hosting, speed, downtime etc.

Will there still be the traditional outage starting a week or so before MWSF?

Definitely not a full week's outage. This server is basically idling while running a few UBB's, so we imagine that it should be able to handle MacNN's UBB as well as AppleInsider's throughout the keynote; the rest of MWSF will be no problem.

If server loads become completely ridiculous, we may have to shut down the UBB itself for 20-30 minutes to let it cool off, but I'm pretty sure the server will be fine. It's never been rebooted so far, and we're not planning on having it choke for a while.
