Yea this one is pretty lame

but then again who can blame them

they should have saved the rumor sites one for later...unless they have a plan

I've been watching the iWalk turnaround movie for like 10 minutes...if thats a fake...DAAAAAMMMNNN they did a good job...but it could be real.

hmmmm.....I certainly hope that its not a new PDA that apple is going nuts over cuz thats not beyond the rumor sites at all, we've been disecting that Idea for years, it better be whatever the hell that is not computer related PLUS the g5 at awesome speeds with loads of awesome feature, cause I don't need or want a PDA but I do need AND want an intel/amd destroying tower!!!!

backstage pass to the future...what poop...when iRead the rumor site one, I got giddy...but I frown upon this one...oh well, it was better than what we were thinking of(in terms of not giving anything away)

I kind of like this one. I think it means that whatever we see (and I'm thinking more and more that it will about digihub devices than a G5) is Apple's vision of consumer electronics and the PC. It makes sense in this context that there will be no G5. Remember the Dutch invite - consumer device. This expo I think will be about the iMac - which may be way more than just a consumer level computer - and all the new digital devices and how they interact. Apple's thinking might be that speed bumps etc aren't going to be enough of an incentive for consumers to get new Macs, but if it's really a digital hub (and I mean more than just a FireWire port) and that everything would interact with it, people would be blown away and realize that this is the "future" of personal computing.

Pros and others who would buy a G5 would likely do so anyway, and thus there isn't as much of a need to show this kind of PC/digidevice synergy. Power Mac buyers would be more concerned about specs, and would probably be able to more easily intuit the hub thing anyway.

This whole scenario might also support the "beyond the rumor sites" tagline in that it's not about GHz and chips but about Apple's vision of a truly integrated digital hub.

Phew, ok sorry for the ramble. I haven't even had my first cup of coffee yet.

yes, it still is vague with out giving any real info and seems to hint at big things to come....but it lacks the apple flair and style that the last few had....but i guess it would be hard to compete with day 5's combination of extreme boasting and winking in the direction of the rumor boards at the same time....it will be hard for them to top the "way beyond" tagline unless the do something like:

    2 days till MWSF

Hell, we can't stand it either....come to the Apple store and see the Future Now!!!

is this my 100 post!? weeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Let's just hope this "Backstage pass to the future" isn't full of vaporware stuff that we won't acutally get to use for years to come!

Forget the G4, I want the GXP (ha ha)

I think this is Apple's way of saying,

"Look, we've got something way ahead of it's time, and we want you to be a part of it."

It just seems to fit with their MacWorld advertizing:

"Come join us on Monday, January 7, when Apple CEO Steve Jobs kicks off the new year and Macworld 2002 with a keynote that demonstrates how Apple will continue to innovate in 2002."

It hints at some type of revolutionary device other than G5s and LCD iMacs, Im happy with that.
