<strong>Why don't we just drop it?</strong><hr></blockquote>
I think we've already dropped the issue judging from the fact that there have been no more posts on it. Maybe this thread needs to be locked since it's deviated from it's original topic...
What could big, even by Apple's standards, beyond the rumor sites, have the power to blow you away, and go where no PC has gone beforeat speeds of lust factor ten?
So I guess this points to a pleasant surprise speedwise in the professional line (A G4/G5 faster than any AMD/intel chip currently on the market - at least in a Photoshop/Maya/whatever bakeoff) and a really good-looking new iMac.
Apple has already shown a willingness to play with the rumors sites with their slogan page. What if Apple sent SpyMac their slogan once it had been finalized? Assuming that iWalk is a fake, it would be sure to throw us rumor-mongers into some confusion. OK, far-fetched, but an amusing possibility.
And Jonathan: you're not looking up IP addresses or e-mails again are you?
Brussel: Nope. Just was remarking about how many vehemently pro spyMac posts we've had lately, and how many "SPY MAC IS POSTING THIS NOW!" before it actually happens we've seen. Interesting, no?
[quote]good point... why isn't it "Lust factor X"?
<hr></blockquote>
Well, these things probably get approved by a committee. Maybe Lust factor X sounded a little two much like Lust factor XXX... which would hint at the long awaited iBrator
This isn't much of a surprise to me... I don't think Spymac "guessed" the URL to the image in question on Apple's site before it went live, if it even existed there beforehand, and no I don't think that the latest iWalk photos/videos are real. I don't even think the name "iWalk" is right.
I do think Spymac has a source, however. A source who fed them the specifications they posted, fully true or not, the information that resulted in their iWalk mockups. They even almost admit that they mocked up (hoaxed) both themselves with "The first picture we presented was a mock-up," and "Designs evolve over time... there may be many different variants of the iWalk out there" etc.
Not only that, but I've come to understand how some "Apple sources" (the employees!) work; there has been a user named PipelineStall around here and in the OrangeInsider chat room (irc.webchatting.com #orangeinsider), who does indeed seem to be an Apple employee, and has dropped several hints, though apparently in an almost gibberish-like secret code that no one seems to be able to turn into a useful hint or other information. Truthfully, he may not even know, and he's just trying to have some fun with us and get our minds off of silly things like the "iWalk." But who knows, how many other sources have played little games like this, vague hints, slight implications, or have incomplete/incorrect information? Most Apple employees like their job, but apparently a lot of them like toying with Mac users obsessed with rumors.
Could the name "iWalk" be fake, as well as the obvious fake mockups/hoaxes that Spymac has put out there--and the concept truly be something that may come to fruition at this MacWorld, or a later expo? Or could it be just as they say, something Apple is merely testing? Maybe the physical "iWalk" we found was just a test-run of a possible case concept for a Newton throwback or a product code-named or nicknamed the "iWalk," by one of Ives' not-so-revolutionary underlings? No one can say.
But it just goes to show, rumor sites and rumors themselves aren't necessarily a black or white thing.

That's right, Shatner is taking over as iCEO.
