    athlon 1.4 mhz

    his cd-rw drive is 24/10/40

    and thats what he uses for ripping

    now this IS at 128 but its still ****ing fast!

    and yes it was about 2 minutes for a full length cd

    perhaps you feel its impossible cause macs don't get any where NEAR that type of ripping



    my other friends pentium 4 1.6 ghz, with a 16/10/40 cd-rw rips at a max of about 20x

    its gone a bit higher at times, but thats ususally the max





    why can't macs have good audio ripping!

    Were there any other apps running? I always get slower speeds with other things open.

    9x on my 550mhz G4 PowerBook, track was the first one on the CD around 4 mins. in length.

    I have gotten around 8x on a 450 mhz G4 Cube.
