When Apple releases specs to case makers prior to a product debut, Apple gives them several "dummy" mock ups along with the actual mock up of the new product. The manufacturer then prepares the tooling for all the possible mock ups. Then on release day, the manufacturer can immediately begin producing the case for the actual product. Any "leaked" case design you might see may end up being only for one of the dummy mock-ups not the actual final product.
