I remember when Macmedia posted his setup back before the dark days. It was beautifull then, and beautifull now. And will get even more with a new iMac.
The phone is one of the Target brand phones. They have a special line of stuff ( I forget what they're called) and they all have that nice curvey look to them.
The duct tape? I was taping up my monitor box to send it back to the manufacturer and just left it there.
That "duck" looking thing is Dr. Finkelstein from "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and he is sitting next to Jack Skellington.
kaboom: michael graves? i love that stuff. i got a michael graves toaster for christmas and i'm addicted to his design now.
here's my setup (after much delay):
notes: i know i am now hopelessly out of date with my cube and CRT, but i still love my setup. the only change i want to make is to get a 17" ASD once i've got the money (someday....)
the subwoofer and printer are on the floor (where they belong!), but i figured getting the FBDO poster was way more important!
my ipod is sort of obscured behind the rolling papers, but it's there! JOB 1.5...the choice of potheads everywhere.
desk, lighting, cable management, courtesy of IKEA. that big glowing yellow mass on the left is this really cool glass lamp, but you can't really make it out. IKEA is great for cheap sob's like myself who still want cool looking stuff.

i thought the isub was designed to sit on your desk and vibrate it, to use the desk as a medium for the sound
the sound is a lot better when its down on the floor. subwoofers are designed to disperse the sound, so theres really no point in having it right in your face. same reason why most multi-part stereo systems have the sub on the floor, or can even be hidden in a basket or something.
Not to mention that I try to keep my space as un-high tech as possible. too many gadgets and lights and whatnot around and i feel like i'm in a lab, not my living room
That Michael Graves stuff started coming out when I was working overnight at Target. (Or at least they came out with newer Graves stuff when I was there).
That stuff rules. Everything is egg-shaped, I think he has some treatise on using egg shapes on the back of each product.
You could pretty much deck your entire house out with those gadgets, I would if I wasn't entirely sure my roommate would eventually destroy them. (Not that he would ever touch the cleaning utensils)
jonathan - thanks man, yeah the ikea lighting stuff is great. i live in a really weird old house, and when they converted it to apartments they didn't bother to change where any of the light fixtures were. So there will be a bare bulb hanging from the ceiling 6 inches from the wall, from where they moved the walls. Anyway so I have to provide all my own lighting. So with all my donated furniture, at least the lights look good
yeah, my desktop is black and white. don't like a lot of color on the desktop...getting colors right when you're a colorblind graphic designer is hard enough as it is, other colors on the screen really screw it ujp.
I have the same shitty printer as u do too!!!

Man, that's too weird. Same monitor and same printer. You got the Epson Stylus Color 880? I've never had any troubles with it before; I was even pleasantly surprised that it has worked fine with OSX since the Public Beta. Quality is pretty good overall too.
So, I'm curious: what's your beef with the 880?

I actually didn't notice them until I took the picture. Maybe I should do something about them.

Things worth noting:
- the DMC above monitor is the front logo off of a real DeLorean. Yeah baby!
- the pink speeding ticket on my desk...
- the 8600/250 hiding behind the chair.
