Frankly it all seems absurd to me and in terms of price, on a subsidized phone, there's little to no difference in cost between an iPhone and an Android phone. I bet the sample size was quite small.
Anecdotally, from my own experience I would say that income plays little to no role. I consult for a technology business where most of the employees earn pretty much the same income and I'd say the split between Apple phones and Android phones is about even.
I understand why Apple, Samsung and others feel they're competing with each other, but I don't understand why end users feel like they're competing with each other. I have an iPhone. If someone else has an Android phone, it really has absolutely no effect on me anymore than if I have a Sony TV and someone else has a Panasonic TV.
I've flown on a plane, have investments, am a white collar worker, semi religious, eaten at McDs. I drink wine or beer, if I'm in the mood. I have an iPhone.
That's fine, but your individual usage case is not interesting.Demographic studies are useful when they speak about larger groups, not about specific individuals.
I have my own usage habits, but guess what? I'm not going to start blabbing about them here.

Oh, you sounded a cool guy till the semi religious part ...

Anyhow, have a nice day.
I suspect t a lot of people are kidding around, don't panic. But now you have me curious ... what are you so worried about ....
So in other words, Android users are more likely to belong with the Wal-Mart shoppers?:D
My takeaway was that Samsung needs to advertise more to the crowd under the overpass. As for the android users eating more likely at McDonald's recently, did they differentiate between dining IN McDonald's or out by the dumpster?
Since day one, I have always been claiming that the main reason why so many Android phones are being sold is because there is an overabundance of poverty stricken people on the planet. This also factors into why Android phones and tablets are so poorly represented on all web metric stats.
I'm not surprised by this study's findings at all. The last time that I took a flight, I saw iPads in all directions, and I don't even think that I saw a single non-Apple tablet being used. If I were taking the bus to visit a penitentiary, I'd imagine that I'd see a lot more Android devices being used.
Another factor to consider is the market share of Android vs iOS in certain countries and regions. It seems to me that some of the countries with the highest percentage of Android users are also the countries that are hurting economically.
I hold low opinions of Android and Android users, and I will continue to do so, especially when all reports and studies that get released only reinforces what I already know and what I have been claiming for ages.
I hold low opinions of people who generalize people of any demographic.
This study is funny as people claim you have to separate the high end and low end phones when it comes to market share because it would be way different in the high end market share arena. Which is something I absolutely agree with but when it's a stupid study like this it's OK to group all the high end and low end Android phones together to get a conclusion you want.
This "study" proves nothing if and when you separate the high end from the low end.
This makes me laugh. I'm blue collar and a redneck but have used Apple products before most here were born. I don't fly anywhere but I do not frequent any fast food restaurants. I do not smoke nor do I drink beer, wine or liquor. I do own a gun or 20 but don't plan on hunting people down like a lot of children from White collar families. I am a God fearing man and proud to be American but according to this if I buy an Android phone I basically trailer park trash, beer drinking, gun toting piece of crap.
Though I have served my country and watched men die for YOUR freedom and mine the company who decided to make this IDIOTIC POLL should be given all the free wine and iPhones they want a locked back into their comfortably padded room and lock the door...

Trust me, I have a lot of experience in generalizing and I have no problems with stereotyping certain groups.
When Android is compared to iOS, they lump every single Android manufacturer on the planet together VS one company, Apple.
I see no issues at all with lumping every single Android user on the planet together when speaking about them.
I use an iPod touch which means I travel by jetpack and drink absinthe, my weapon of choice is a depleted uranium tipped harpoon.
So I guess with a first-gen iPhone, my ownership of a Stella Artois glass engraved with “A teetotaler’s chalice.” makes sense in this context. " src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

You are up late!
The generalizations in the "poll".

MORE PEOPLE ARE DRINKING BEER
WINE IS LOSING THE MARKET SHARE WAR
WINE IS DOOMED!
Business Insider just reported beer is literally taking wine's drinkers!
Man... These "I'm better than you" threads makes me laugh.. Come back down to earth ppl, it's only a phone...
If you need a phone for social classification\acceptance, you have other issues. lol
You know I'm right

However, don't ask them about their women.

"Sills said many of the differences go away when the user base is adjusted for income."
So if you separate it to people of higher income both users of iOS and Android do and spend roughly the same thing.
Thank you for your service and there is nothing wrong with how you live your life.
The article is more click bait. I don't take it seriously.
