I really hope that references to Nicolas Cage become a running joke in AI articles. Nothing overt at all–just really subtle things like the image above.
A Christmastime article could have a picture of Santa in prison or something.
What happened to “block from third party ad providers"? What if I want to block them and only accept cookies from the exact site I visited? What if I DON’T want to save cookies from previously visited websites?
I don’t like this.
I totally agree. It's nice that you can block website data in addition to cookies (you can't in Snow Leopard's Safari), and it's also nice you can just allow cookies from the current website, but that's worthless if you can't still block 3rd party cookies. Hopefully there'll be a lot of feedback on this, and it will be changed.
There should be a separate button to block 3rd party cookies, so you can leave it selected no matter what other cookies you allow.
Hmm. My screenshots started going to my Pictures folder around the time I switched to Mavericks, so I thought it was a system change. Googling for help seemed to confirm others were seeing this and it could only be changed in the Terminal (which I tend to avoid.)
My apologies for interrupting the thread with this. Carry on.
I'm less pleased with the domain-only URL, but I accept it as long as it's shown on click and remains editable (as I'm sure it always will be, at least as a developer-menu toggle). I'd like an option to keep the full URL visible (with domain shown darker) the way it is now. It's useful! But not, I realize, to most people.
Has anyone figured out how to drag and drop a URL from the address bar to create a shortcut on the desktop or some other location other than the browser's Favorites collection?

Drag the circle with the plus sign in it (where the favicon would be) and drop it on the Desktop to create the .webloc file.
I'd tried everything but this, assuming the the plus button was solely for adding a page to the reading list.
I couldn't find it either but I just assumed that they couldn't have missed this feature. Sometimes just telling yourself it must exist (despite no proof to support that claim) is enough to push you to find it.
I'm not sure I like that new setup. The favicon was a useful pictograph for easily determining what site I was on. I even wish I could use them in my Favorites Bar because they are easier to discern at a glance and I store considerably more.

I'm probably missing something here, but why wouldn't the option to "block cookies and website data not from current website" be the same as "blocking 3rd party cookies"?
Aren't all 3rd party cookies not from the current website, by definition?

I think you're right, and my initial reaction was similar to TS'.

Truly outstanding New Look Performance Behavior Sharing Smart Search and HTML5 more and more overtaking on the hateful flash player... all i need is now inside Safari v8.0 I can give it 5 stars
Btw: the separated backward and forward i hope Apple gives an alternative integrated one more beautiful for me
I hate how "full screen mode" is now what clicking the green fit to window button used to do. I HATE full screen safari, and never use the full screen modes. Why did they have to change what makes Mac window management so much nicer than Windows 7 or 8? Does anyone know how to kill this and return back to the original way?

Yep. Works fine.
I restarted the computer and now the jpeg's work fine. But I had Safari crash 4 times so I went back to Firefox.
Though this bothers me greatly:

What day is that, again?
Do you mean, "What day does it split", or, "What day does it hit $1 trillion"?
I think bets are in order on the latter.
So far, we have May 2015 from me and June 2015 from TS.
...Tendency, please stop, Nicolas cage? What Internet pages you looking at over there?
I've invited him over for some beers; still waiting to hear back. Dunno why, I left the post on AI several days ago.
Safari 8 has APNG support!
I think that’s neat. APNG isn’t even a standard (why IS that?), but it’s good to see a format superior to GIF adopted natively.
Does anyone know if Yosemite restores the ability to have screenshots appear on your desktop instead of them going to the Pictures folder?
Easily the worst part of my Mavericks experience.

They go to the Desktop by default in OS X. You’ve changed something along the way.

It’s a spectacular view, by the way.

Interesting. I haven't had Safari crash yet and I currently have 15 tabs open across 7 websites with 7 extensions installed.
Then again some of those extensions are blocking trackers and Flash. Wouldn't surprise me if Flash were to blame.

Aha! I get it now. That’s an odd wording.
