No thanks. Besides the suck-ass bass-heavy sound, they would be too pastel for me.

No no... they'd call it the GMW i328. Then they'd make a higher performance variant called the 3M.

That also works if General Motors Company were to ever buy BMW. In fact, I'd bet anything that how people would make fun of BMW if such a horrible thing were to occur.

Whatever Samsung has to offer it isn't going to be hard to top the quality of Beats. They won't sell as well but Beats sound and quality is bad. They will always be bass heavy because that is the market they appeal too. Best advice I ever got form the Apple store was V-MODA.  Once I got my first set never had a need for anything else. Awesome sound, kevlar reenforced cables you just can't wear them out. Beats you are lucking if you don't crack the cheap plastic within 6 months.

Apple use to sell them not sure why they stopped.

Are you kidding me?  The Sammy headphones are called LEVEL?  As in, FLAT?  Just what I want.  Flat sound.  Yeah, flat sound, it's so level you can't even hear the beats.

Marketing genius!  Clearly Sammy didn't quite understand the parable of Chevy trying to sell the Nova in latin America. Sammy has succeeded where even Chevrolet failed!

At least now we know why Samsung didn't buy Beats last year... they just copied them instead.

Honestly, the SK’s have had our money, training, and hardware for 60 years. Their stuff is as close to parity with ours as our government allows to be sold to our allies-who-could-someday-become-enemies.

They can take the North themselves.

North Korea has no outside support, no modern technology, and nothing newer than 1970s tech. They have rockets that can’t make it past the peninsula, nukes but no warheads, and while they have the largest standing army in the world, numbers have never meant anything in war.

The South can take the North themselves.

And I would greatly prefer the US not to pay to rebuild the North once reunification happens. We already paid to build Japan and South Korea, seeing nothing from that in physical gains. Let Korea fix Korea. After the war finishes, let the Koreans pay to rebuild their nation. Does two things: takes Korea off the world stage for at least 30 years, as their entire economy would be tailored domestically, and with Seoul the primary/only target in the war, Samsung-Jeong would certainly be leveled. Goodbye, Samsung! I still prefer the Norks attack at 3AM when there’s no one in the buildings.

Come on, Kimmy! Go completely insane over that parody movie and finish the war! You know you want to!

so... beats owns the shape and style of most headphones now.  they should also sue Sure, Sony, Panasonic, Klipsch, etc.

the samsung ones have more padding/cushion, the outside ear pieces are different, and no doubt sound different.

i like apple too- but sheesh.  it is like suing every bicycle company because someone came up with a two wheeler with a seat and handlebars.

Everyone copied the iPhone for a reason. I'm still waiting for a good droid.

You'll be waiting forever for a good Android phone, and with Samsung looking to... ahem... diversify the OS's they are using on their phones, Android might start being on the way out. That 22% of Samsung Androids starts ticking down, bringing the entire Android install base down as they are thrown out after 2 years. Then the Android investors will start freaking out.

As for this speakers thing. Sound is a very subjective thing, and with age, people lose their hearing starting from the higher pitches. There are studies showing that people think "louder" and "bass-heavy" music sounds better, even when the sound quality is much much worse. MP3 and AAC lossy compression at lower bitrates throws away the delicate sounds. That's why electronic music and dubstep aren't so terrible when compressed, but classical music is utterly destroyed by lossy compression.

I know that the readers of AI are some of the most intelligent people in the world. But I just want to mention that although Apple has done a lot of inventive things trough out the years, I do not think Apple invented the speaker or headphones. I think these products existed long before Apple was even a company. I might be wrong, but I am just saying.

lets just talk about apple and samsung here.  especially because you are wrong on nearly every point.

Korea has paid back loans faster than most nations, especially the IMF bailout (3 years early). The U.S. chooses to offset the price of aiding the SK military by selling military hardware and having free untaxed bases here in Itaewon (Yongsan) and Busan (other places, too).  SK spends over $1 billion  every year on U.S. military goodies. http://blogs.wsj.com/korearealtime/2012/05/11/south-koreas-military-shopping-list-is-long/

NK receives tonnes of money from China, U.S. and SK. http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/yonhap-news-agency/140325/s-korea-urges-north-repay-loans, http://www.cfr.org/china/china-north-korea-relationship/p11097, http://fas.org/sgp/crs/row/R40095.pdf.  they also have cellphones, computers, cameras and televisions that are from the 2000's and up. They do have some old military tech, but China is not about to just send down everything they have as even China knows NK is volatile.

And as SK went from rags to riches in less than 50 years (3rd world nation to a 1st world donor nation), do not expect them to go anywhere anytime soon.  The world took a hit in the last recession, over here it was a minor blip lasting about a month. SK will rebuild NK when the unification happens, Japan will not help, China will not help. The U.S. might- but more than likely only in the form of contractors ripping off the American people like they did in Iraq.

And Itaewon is in Seoul.  If North Korea attacks- U.S. will go to war.  The U.S. will not let their troops be attacked and not respond.

Picture German reunification plus two orders of magnitude.

I see nothing to suggest anything other than full on WWI-style billions of dollars for free.

free billions... the U.S. rarely does free, it makes up that money in trade (or other means).  the amount of money SK has spent on U.S. goods over the years has made up for those 'lost' billions.  nearly every time that the U.S. aids a country and sets up trade agreements they make up for it in the long run in their economy.  as mentioned, Korea spends over $1 billion U.S dollars on U.S. military equipment, and several more billions in trade-- amounting to hundreds of billions the U.S. would never have received without first "aiding", or investing as the case may be. (in 2013, American goods exports to Korea was $46 billion, agricultural goods $5.1 billion, and though the numbers are not in just yet, for private commercial services 2013 is supposed to be better than the 2012 number of $9.4 billion, not to mention the billions in foreign investments.  and though the trade deficit is in SK's favour [America loves to buy Korean cars and Detroit is not sending many], it has not always been the case and both countries are trying to work out a better free trade agreement)

and how is Germany doing? paid off their debts and are bailing out countries left and right.

So these were announced in February at the MWC in Barcelona with review copies being available.

So clearly Apple is ripping off Samsung by just buying a lineup to try and compete. That's why they were willing to pay so much.

And these aren't even Beats ripoffs either unless they sound shit for their price.

Also How long do you think it takes to make a product from design through manufacturing, packaging and distribution? If you really think that Samsung can pull that off in 2 months every competitor is in more trouble than you would think.

revenant you're missing the point, this is about emotional hysteria to Samsung, the Skeletor of consumer electronics.  Political and economic realities have no place here.
