In an era of proprietary, HealthKit's aims at coalescing medical info into one spot is of mounting interest. The question will start to be in who can access what data for analysis, how we define appropriate stakeholders for appropriate information, what happens if a provider or a system goes offline or makes a change, and in what form will someone actually be able to hold onto their own medical records, rather than seeing what others have stored here and there.  Our transition to digital in the healthcare world will be slow and cumbersome, and though healthKit is the most disruptive solution touted, it ignores some basic understanding of industry-level change. In most instances, HealthKit continues to empower those who are already engaged in their own healthcare. I, of course, am thinking of aiding system wide industrial change for those most in need. I wonder how we will really break down the silos so that what one plan or provider knows can benefit every other plan and provider for the sake of better healthcare for all.
