    I think that I read something about certain telecoms blocking certain SMS messages, so perhaps that is your problem, if it is your telecom that is blocking the SMS from Apple.


    yeah, that was the problem. bell had turned disabled "short code"/premium sms messages, and it took some figuring out how to re-enable them for my cell phone.  after that, it worked no problem.

    Perhaps not so fast. Article out today claims two-factor authentication is still not being used with some Apple services.
