They should have waited a day or two with the anti-terror raids, because I read that there were a few scalpers and even a few fights with morons trying to cut into line. If anybody deserves to have their heads cut off, it's people who cut in line. What an incredibly rude thing to do.

I also read a few interviews with Apple customers in Australia, and they were interviewing these two girls and they both had bought iPhone 6+s. The people who think that the iPhone 6+ is not going to sell a lot, or people who think that girls wont be choosing it, are simply wrong.

Don't know if many of you have already seen this or not; it's a poll that was taken at the iMore site by Rene Ritchie a few days ago:

    1000

I doubt Apple will release any break-downs... so we're just going to have to do straw-polls and visual analysis on our own. Won't be too hard, since the sizes are very different.... AND SINCE EVERYONE IS GOING TO HAVE ONE AFTER DITCHING THEIR SHITTY "LAST EVER BIG THING".... WAHHAHAHAHAHAHH!***...:p

*** Please allow me my moment of childish glee at Samsung's expense!

First time that happened to me I was opening it on the kitchen countertop and it fell onto the granite. The box top is so tight that you often have to struggle to get it off which causes it to abruptly open when it finally releases. Of course it is usually at an angle when it does and the phone slides right out. Absolutely stupid design. I have to remember to open them where there is carpet or cushions.

The only stupid thing is opening it on a granite surface.

Why not open it in the sea next time?

I loved that video of the Australian numpty dropping his iPhone on the pavement! Served him right for trying to open it so quickly and getting some cheap tv fame.

I love that the box is designed to be opened very slowly.

iPhone queues and terrorism raids. Welcome to modern Australia.
Do you think this was a coincidence? Tony Abbot himself said that an iPhone was an important terrorist tool. Presumably even ISIL won't stoop to using Samsung phones.

It is really a demise for Samsung. So now that we have an iPhone 6 Plus, which is 5.5 inches screen, Are we done? I think 5.5 inches phone is already big, and I seriously don't think Samsung is going to do one-up with making an phone with screen larger than 5.5, like 6.1 or 6.5 - Would they? Because it is no longer a phone.

So, can we all agree that we are done with the size as differentiator for phones?
Nah, Samsung will just make a bigger phone, try to convince everyone this is innovation, and accuse Apple of copying them if they bring out a bigger phone. Oh wait, they already did that?

Have to say, I've never had that problem, myself. But I've never been trying to open it in a hurry on the street. I'm usually sitting at a desk when I do it.

Actually, I blame the Channel 9 reporter. (I blame Channel 9 for a lot of things, though.) As can be seen from the video, she's actually trying to get the box open for him, no doubt adding to the pressure. Plus it's live on television. I doubt he deliberately went up to them, they presumably approached him to get a quick look.
