    lol

With all the improvements iOS 8 is still pretty plain...

Heard it before. Got anything actually new?

Applications like f.lux that allows to adjust the color temperature at night along with Dimmer are indispensable to me and not to mention a bunch of other tweaks that makes it e real useful device.

    So download them. Problem solved.

I have to agree with some of the comments here. The esthetic issues with iOS 7 and 8 are just completely unacceptable. There's no justifying the issue with the corners of the folders changing radius when opened. That's been an issue since iOS 7 was first released! Even worse is the way in which red notification bubbles on apps such as mail, Facebook, etc overlap with the notifications icons on the top... I mean, seriously? They overlap all the time! And parallax effect doesn't help the situation.

What makes Apple Apple is having OCD attention to detail! Unfortunately, they seem to be losing that with iOS... those esthetic issues would have never passed with Steve overseeing iOS.

You know what drives me even more insane? The Game Center app! If the ethos of iOS 7 is flat, then why on freaking earth is the Game Center app "3D"??? Whyyyyy?!?!?! It's like the app belongs to a different OS!!! iOS 7 and 8 are about flat, no gradients!!! Why is the Notes app textured?!?! Why is the Reminders app textured?!?! WHYYYY?!?!?! Where is the cohesiveness? Where is the attention to detail Apple is known for?

Don't get me wrong, I love Apple, I own tons of Apple products, but I am disappointed by how they are losing attention to detail...

    Soapbox now over.

Don't waste your curiousity. My sense is you'd find very little there there.....  ....the minds of most trolls are deadly dull.

Safari will crash our iPad Air fairly reliably on certain websites. Actual iOS crash - not just Safari.  Other apps having crash issue like Pinterest etc. got better after app updates.

That's been true for me since the day I installed iOS7 on my iPhone 4.  Should never have done it.

Of course, it is an iPhone 4 (not 4s), so I attributed it to that.  I should have taken more time to think about it, but if the same type of thing is happening with iOS 8 on newer hardware, maybe I was too quick to forgive. :)

I'm having a few noticeable problems. Battery life on both my iPhone 5 and iPad Air are a bit worse. Not a problem, but noticeable.

More of a problem is with Safari, or possibly the new predictive typing mode. Two problems. The first is occasional freezes in Safari when typing in posts. At first, it was really strange. I typed two letters in, and it froze. I closed the app thought the manager, went back to the page, and when I typed the same two letters, it froze again.

Since then, it's happened a couple of times on other sites with other letters or words.

Worse is that it doesn't seem to use my shortcuts at all.

I noticed my shortcuts not working, too.

Just tried them in Notes. Get this: they now appear in the middle word suggestion. Simply tap the space bar and they appear in place.

They can also axe QuickType while they're at it (yes, I've turned it off, but I'll rant about it anyway.)

While I get the whole draw of predictive text implementations (it encourages laziness, in my book), it's just not working for me. Yes, for me. YMMV, but I find it annoying and not very useful. It's right some of the time, and even when it's right often, my attention is pulled in two different directions at once - to the keyboard where I am focusing on typing the word I want (this means DO NOT DISTURB my focus), and also to the bar above where I wait for the word to (maybe) appear. This tends to slow down my typing. I can manage it, but it aint comfy.

In my view (and I'm quite sure others share it), we don't need our words and phrases predicted for us, when we're already in the process of typing them out.

What we DO need (sorely) is a smarter autocorrect.

Don't try to anticipate what *might* come up in my typing, tyvm, just fix the damn stuff I've already typed.

I agree. You say it can be turned off? I must try that. I find it distracting. I type pretty quickly, even just with two fingers. I can't imagine being quicker using it. I tried it for a bit, but it disturbs the thought process.
