I doubt you could fix my ibook problem with touch up paint...

I had a peice of tape on the lower right palm rest on my ibook2 to keep it still for a while and it removed the lite matte finish from that area...

Its hard to see it in low light unless you reflect something off it, but it really ticked me off... If you scroll your thumb over the area... which is no bigger than an inch square you can feel the loss of texture... any attemp to repair such a fine matte finish would only make it worse (more obvious)...

Oh well... but if the paint was "ever" damaged so much that the resale value fell too much it would probably give me good reason to really get creative with my ibook2... maybe glow in the dark paint or some wierd paint... like a silver mirror-like paint...

Of course I would have a proffesional do it... I would find a way to horribly screw up the paint job...

I don't know, guys. I kinda dig the idea of "battle wounds" and stuff. I don't worry about the cosmetics as much, and to be honest, I think it's cool that a PowerBook or iBook might actually look like it's logged some miles or has seen some action.

Plus, I hate worrying about every little scratch or ding, then I end up coddling and being too sissy with it.

As a matter of fact, this is how bad I am: when I bought my Gibson J-45 three years ago, it was BEAUTIFUL. But I knew I'd eventually ding it and it would be "deflowered" at some point. To get rid of that awful feeling hanging over me, I took my car key and made a huge scratch on the back of the guitar, just to break it in, make it "mine" and to, psychologically anyway, feel like "there...first blemish...done, over...quit worrying about it...".

    scates,

that's kinda like when I started rollerblading, I made myself fall on my ass, just to get it out of the way. Of course, it still hurts when I fall... Maybe it didn't work <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />
