It is my understanding that generally in Louisiana most people dont have all that much $ to burn compared with a lot of the rest of the country... So, I don't think Apple would go for a demographic like that... sorry man..

N'awlins ain't that bad....There are other Mac only stores out here though..SO WHO NEEDS YA" APPLE!
Apple's retail web site has been updated again. There will be a store in Garden City, New York. If I'm not mistaken this is part of Long Island.

Yeah... it'll probably be near Roosevelt Field. Roosevelt Field's a very popular mall so the Apple Store should get good traffic. There's also a CompUSA and Micro Center near there.

i'm guessing you haven't actually been to new orleans, but i could easily see apple at the riverwalk or shops at canal place. canal place is nothing but hoitey toitey places like gucci, kenneth cole, pottery barn, saks fifth avenue, etc. it's a hell of a lot nicer than some of the places apple's opened up.

No, I have been to New Orleans... Yes there are some upscale areas there, but what about outside these small areas? I mean, the current Apple stores have a lot of customers that are not from the small area directly around the stores themselves... All I am saying is that Apple would probably have better numbers if they went to someplace in Texas or Oklahoma or Arkansas (granted I haven't been to any of these places outside of an airport (texas) and don't know if they would be much better for an extended market, but you get the idea...)
Where in NYC are you? Palisades really isn't that far from the city.

I live in a very small "comunity" of Queens called Douglaston....It is like the last area of NYC before Nassau... Palisades may not be that far from the city, but I have never been around that area, Roosevelt Field is a place a lot of my friends go to every weekend....

Ahh... good old Douglaston. When I was growing up I went to the Toys R Us there all the time (near the LIE, Exit 31). I know that part of Queens really well. I know some people around there because my old summer camp is based in Little Neck (Samuel Field Y). In you're case Roosevelt Field is much closer so now I understand.

And palisades simply can not be considered "close" to the city even if you can get there according to you in 30 minutes.

I barely ever get stucck in Tappan Zee traffic. Even around rush hour I haven't. The only time it's bad is when they're blsting the rocks on the Westchester side.

Just exactly where in Oklahoma or Arkansas would be more "upscale" than Nawlins?
Louisiana might be a "poor" state, but there is LOTS of $$ in New Orleans. Besides the upscale Canal Street & Riverwalk shopping areas (which are frequented by tens of thousands of tourists every day), there are also at least 4 major universities (plus the LSU medical & dental schools) in The Big Easy. There are probably more college students in N.O. then there are functionally literate residents of Little Rock
No, too many rednecks. I think we should have let Texas seceed from the Union, personally. Sort of like, "ok, we're going to war with the south, but Texas, you're free to go, we don't want you in the Union!".

Out of curiosity, for those of you that live near an Apple Store, do you ever actually buy things there? I dropped by the one here in Boston at Cambridgeside, and it's a real retail store... meaning hefty retail prices. I don't think I'd actually go back to buy anything, mainly because I know I can get it cheaper online...

I've gotten my Keyspan Digital Remote, World Book for OS X, White Pro Keyboard, and a few other things there.

Everything that I've tried to buy at the Apple Store they didn't have.
Examples:
Final Cut Pro 3 - wasn't in stock yet
Quicktime Pro - download only
Virtual PC 5 - wasn't in stock
some game for my nephew, forgot the name - wasn't in stock

maybe they haven't found suitable retail space yet.
does King of Prussia have any space available that would meet their needs?
