Well, there goes the "Android is better because it has SD slots".

To be fair a 128 gig micro sd card is about $100, is the size of my pinky fingernail and sits inside the phone.

This is $120 for only 64 gigs in a bulky box that you need to remember to carry separately. And it attaches with a cable. Yikes. Talk about inelegant.

Couldn't be further from the same thing.

At least apple offers a 128 gig option out of the box, even if it does cost $200 more for the extra 112 gigs over the 16 gig entry model. I might be wrong but I can't think of an android phone that offers 128 gigs out of the box.

Edit: Does not need a cable? Looks like you attach it directly to your phone.

    It's USB 2.0. Fail!

I travel and work remotely (often no cell or wifi) so this is something I am definitely interested in getting.  Wondering if the USB is 3.0?

As to pricing this is list price and I would expect it to drop by half in 6+ months.

$120 for 64GB in an external a brick vs. $200 for 112GB of extra built-in storage? No thanks!

64GB? I can fill that in a day without trying. How about a 1TB version? Should be able to do that for ~$400.

Good to know!  From the iFunbox website, "Use your device as portable USB disk".

I now see zero reason why anyone would ever want this SanDisk drive, but to each their own.

I like the idea of being able to have a "backup" of sorts for data when on vacation or out traveling where networks aren't available. I can also appreciate it as a good way to get non-native video on my phone from someone that is PC based. I am sure there are other uses that will become more obvious as it becomes more available to experiment with. I am also pretty sure that the price will come down. I wonder if they have any kind of IP protection (almost feels like I am using an oxymoron) such as a patent that what keep others from copying? I cannot believe I actually just said "a patent that what keep others from copying" LOL -- I am serious though.

Come on people. With airdrop, iMessage, E Mail and Google drive or equivalent this is so 4 years ago.

Is anyone with me on this?

I want a Lightning six-drive RAID array, so I can load it with six 8TB drives. Then I can carry around all my 16kbps music collection. /s

I have a Verbatim media share wifi hub. I can connect it to a USB hard drive and stream movies, photos, music and documents etc to my iOS devices. Works with android as well. Not sure if ther is a limit to size of the hard drive it is connected to, but it works fine with an old 350gb drive that I use.

Could be useful to take files with me to remote areas with no wifi or cellular.
Btw I buy the largest storage capacity devices (ipad/iphone) and still do not have enough storage.
I'll be interested to see what video codecs are supported.
