FINALLY...new iMac! (pics)
Well it's about #$%@! time!
Just got it tonight: 800MHz SuperDrive model at the San Diego Apple Store.
I'm totally thrilled. So speedy and tight. Just feels right!
No dead pixels and all is working flawlessly after 4 hours of nonstop use/tweaking/playing.

As far as mock-ups, I'm out of the business.
The only thing I care about from Apple is the iStuff, and as far as I'm concerned both the current iMac and iBook have it nailed. I see no room for improvement, to be honest.
I'm not talking about processor speed and so forth...of course that stuff is going to go up. But I'm talking aesthetics and industrial design.
There's no way I'm going to come up with something cooler and more elegant than the dual USB iBooks and the new flat-panel iMac, so why waste time trying?
Took getting a new computer to get off your fanny and dust that desk!!
Definitely looks nice Paul, congrats.

Hopefully!
This is a sad day.
Congrats on your new machine, p, it's a friggin' beauty. It's got more personality in it's neck than my entire PC does!
Hey, I just saw all the brouhaha about the new pricing! Am I the luckiest @#$!$$@ on the planet or WHAT?
Here I was, getting sad that I'd waited this long and would eventually buy my iMac and then a true Rev. B would come out 3 days later.
Instead, I talked myself into getting it Tuesday night (even though I almost held off until the weekend).
Well, by doing so Tuesday, I saved myself a cool $100 because I NEVER would've predicted a price INCREASE!
Needless to say, I'm very, very happy right now.
When I went to the Apple store and saw the "Starting at $1399" tag on the iMac, it hit me that MW Tokyo just started (I've been a bit out of the loop for the past month or two) and I thought "SONOFA****INBITCH!!! I COULD'VE WAITED TWO @#!%# DAYS AND GOT A 1GHz iMac WITH A BIGGER HARD DRIVE AND...".
I was very happy to read the specs and notice that nothing had changed...except the price.
I'm just now getting to where I'm installing all my graphics apps and transferring all my mp3's and personal stuff (art, writing, etc.) over from my old tangerine iMac.
Believe it or not, I haven't been camping out at this thing as much as you might have expected: between being completely overloaded at work (with my face in the screen all day, juggling projects) and being kinda sick the past few days (awful hacking cough and chest congestion), I've yet to fully sit down and really go to town on this new iMac.
Hopefully, this weekend will be when I can do that a bit more and get Illustrator and everything else installed and configured.
My desk cost $99 at Office Depot, about a year or so ago. I love it.
I'll put the iSub on the floor tonight!

Yay! I have mine on the floor, and it serves to purposes: the thing sounds amazing, and the groove in the top makes an occasionally nice footrest.
Nice iMac!!! By the way - I finally got to mess with one of the new iMacs at a computer store. The LCD really does feel like it floats when you move it!!! Nice touch Apple!!
And yes, it does look really kewl with that desk u have!
