Reportedly a "montage of Big Events in Apple's history" isn't the plan. It sounds like they're going to do a film focusing on his personal life rather than professional:
"During an interview that aired earlier this month, Sorkin said the film would not be a sweeping biopic, but will instead focus on a segment of Jobs' life told through his relationships with coworkers and loved ones. It was later revealed that Jobs' daughter Lisa will play a crucial role in the film.
Sounds like a TV movie. I am sure there is a story there of a father daughter relationship but that would be true of most fathers with daughters. Which isn't what made Steve Jobs Steve Jobs.
As far as drawing people to the theater? He doesn't have that power.
Given that Universal spent $30 million to acquire the film (which is more than it's likely to make in receipts) I just see this being shelved, or referred to as a bomb if it does come out.
I believe he is a hit with the ladies.
I don't really think that any star guarantees a movie these days.
Isaacson's Jobs book was not his best. It was rushed, and incomplete. Unless the screen play was merely based on Isaacson's book with additional and substantial new and original material, I'd say this movie is DOA. As time goes by and Apple becomes more and more the result of Cook's management and leadership, interest in Steve Job's will lessen.
It may be that Isaacson's newest published book, Innovators, which he was working on when he was hired to rush out a Steve Job's biography, is the more interesting and relevant.
Movies have portrayed people for over a century now. Bigger people than SJ.
It's entertainment.
People enjoy it.
OFFS indeed.
Why am I not surprised that those with the most to say also totally depreciate the joint talents , expertise and movie records of scriptwriter, director and leading actor whilst promoting an episodic boringly-factual, documentary approach?
Where's the drama?
My understanding was this was the script. I would do this.
Jobs before his speech for the Mac. Reminiscing a bit ( maybe shown in Flashbacks). Gives the Speech.
Jobs in his empty unfinished house when fired at 30. Someone from the company calls over, they talk about what happened. Flashbacks. Jobs introducing the iPod. Before the speech we get some flashbacks about his return to Apple. Jobs introducing the iPhone. Before the speech we get some flashbacks about how it happened.
The end of his life. Movie ends with a flashback to the commencement speech at Stanford.
That would work.
Throw in iPad and his amazing Toy Story speech.
Universal competes with Pixar but a lot of people are clueless to Steve's involvement.
I wonder who will buy up the rights to make the making of the Jobs movie starring Val Kilmer as Aaron Sorkin, Angelina Jolie as herself, Billy Crystal as Scott Rudin and Jeff Daniels as Amy Pascal all filmed in real-time watching the emails go out and reactions to the emails.

Not like the old days, no. But this isn't a romcom or date movie, so his appeal to women is pointless here.
Or movie goers...
Movie should have just been shut down.

At least you understand movies.

You know, I think it would - I for one would really like to see that story...
Could we insert an iPad-announcement segment, too?

And the money given back to the shareholders?

I rather see the melodrama on this Hollywood %u2013 Sony/Universal, Rudin/Pascal, Cruise/Bale/Fassbender, Director Fincher/Boyle screenplay.
This would hold my interest better now then a movie about Steve Jobs!
Get Charlie Kaufman to write it and we may have something.
