No a $100 increase for the iMac's price doesnt spell the end of the world, but since when have you seen the same tech increase in price a couple months later? Apple would've fixed the LCD prices a long time ago.

A simple thought:
Apple has failed to make a Powermac since the G3 (every machine since has been a rip off)
The imac is a laughable spin doctored pretty cased lamp
Apple's products are too slow, too low specced and too high priced to really compete
All that gumph about increasing market share is now being seen for what it was - crap.
Seasoned mac fanatics are deeply unhappy.
OS X still isn't good enough for prime time
Thus:
apple no longer makes power macs
Therefore:
since nature abhors a vacuum and the marketplace will not accept a hole:
How long before a true rival appears on the scene?
