Apple's Canadian operations are under investigation from the country's Competition Bureau, which is looking into claims of anti-competitive deals struck with carriers in the Great White North.

The ongoing investigation was announced by the bureau on Thursday, according to The Globe and Mail. The bureau is said to have sought a court order this week asking Apple to turn over records relating to the investigation.

The bureau has said that there is no conclusion of any violations by Apple Canada. The statement did not say specifically what about Apple's agreements with carriers was under investigation.

The iPhone is available on a range of carriers in Canada, including the nation's "big three" providers: Rogers, Bell, and TELUS. Other carriers include Virgin Mobile, Fido, Koodo, plus regional providers.

I still think we should have annexed Canada and kept Mexico, but that's just me.

At the very least, we should have paid Britain to relinquish their claim on Oregon Country (present-day Columbia) and shot Nicolas Trist for treason, renegotiating Guadeloupe-Hidalgo to take what Congress approved (the present-day border Mexican states).

Yes of course it was the carriers conspiring for Blackberry's demise, which they did with bad product placement. /s

In reality, Canada's carriers are not so different from US. Both Apple and BB were harmed by 'Android pushing' by carriers, with lower subsidization meaning more $$ in their pockets. And to be frank,  the corporate market was BB's to lose, and they lost it and consumers,  while their CEOs were chasing NHL franchise ownerships. They should have stayed focused and worked to save their company.

You realize it wasn’t Canadians who did that, right? And that we’d just turn Ottawa into a lake, right? <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

Maybe they should go after the three big carriers for price fixing. It's funny how I can go to Rogers, Bell or Telus and all the various mobile plans they have are EXACTLY the same price.

Governments bear more resemblance to patent trolls, than they do consumer protection institutions.

When Blackberry owned the smartphone market nobody looked into its business practices. Become the world's wealthiest firm and everybody begins trying to get a piece of it.

Don't confuse the United States of 1812 with today's United States.  Besides, as I remember, GB withdrew from that engagement AND ceased the actions that led to that war.

All that said I'd hate to see the US/GB relationship deteriorate to that level.  I really enjoy the English countryside.

I’d actually prefer they go republican and eventually join the Union.

Blackberry in Canada, Amazon in US. Apple can't win with the govt choosing favorites.

We know you could and we know you never will, so just keep filling your tanks with our oil while we keep filling our pockets with your iPhones and let's all just enjoy being neighbors and allies

Meanwhile, support for annexation in the provinces rises ever so slightly every year. 95% of you live within 200 miles of our border; no further away than most states are wide. All we have to do is wait. 8-);)

This has nothing to do with BB. This is purely a dipshit move, likely driven by our carriers. The government has been trying to break the oligopoly (and not doing a very good job at it) that has a strangle hold on wireless. This was likely a bone the gov threw them to show they aren't just picking on the carriers.
