Medical device maker A&D on Monday announced an update to its A&D Connect app that allows A&D's Bluetooth-enabled blood pressure monitors, weight scales, and activity trackers to synchronize their data with Apple's Health app in iOS 8.

Among the data available for collection is blood pressure, heart rate, weight, calories, steps, and distance walked. In addition, consumers using LifeTrak's A&D Connect-compatible C410 activity tracker can collect and analyze information related to their sleep patterns.

By synchronizing data with the Health app, users of A&D's devices can take advantage of the Health app's built-in ability to spot trends, create charts, and automatically share information with their physician.

A&D manufactures a variety of connected medical devices, including blood pressure sensors and weight scales. The company also works with activity tracking company Salutron to integrate data from LifeTrack fitness trackers.

"A&D Connect is based on the real tools and best practices of the medical community, so people know they are getting what doctors need," A&D Engineering chief executive Terry Duesterhoeft said in a release. "A&D Connect gives patients, physicians, and families peace of mind, knowing they can all monitor a person's health with medical grade tools."

A&D Connect is available now as a free, 7.3-megabyte download from the App Store.
