The magic of ? pay is - deliberately? - being confused with the magic of xmas eve. One has nothing to do with the other as Apple's true magical Holliday ad campaign testimonies.

Anyone is welcome to respond to this post. Please keep it on topic: Apple misrepresenting xmas and contradicting their holiday ad campaign. Don't make it personal, I already know I am a troll and a snide.

    Xmas Eve?

    That is a bit distasteful.

You ought to be sharing a self prepared warm meal with your loved ones, not waving iPhones   Actually, the iPhone disappears in a drawer.

I guess it must be a culture thing. Most of the people in Europe - 90%, Piper would say - are celebrating xmas eve with their family/loved ones at home.

What else are the Jews gonna do? A lot of curls swinging around in those tea cups.

WTF?!?!?! Disney getting their parks ready for ?Pay has nothing to do with "Apple misrepresenting xmas and contradicting their holiday ad campaign." The only deliberate aspect of ?Pay going live then is that Disney wants to capitalize on the convenience and secure of having a faster and safer option for making payments. You want them to launch it before it's ready or hold off on launching it at the risk of the customer's convenience and safety just shows how out of touch you are with the spirit of the holiday.

I don’t see any sarcasm here. If you’re going to go completely insane and treat animals like equals to humans, of course it would be subject to all human laws.

Two things.   These terminals aren't being installed by Apple.   Disney has been in the process of converting everything in the park to NFC, from speedpass to hotel rooms, everying is going to be stored in a wristband or some other device.    They are getting away from physical tickets.   The terminals they are putting in work with Apple Pay, google wallet, and any other mobile payment system based on the same NFC tech.

Second, they are likely implementing this on Christmas eve because it is one of the rare days the park isn't overly crowded.   I think if I were updating my payment terminals,  I would want to do it on a fairly slow day(for Disney that is).   This gives them a few day window around the holiday to try to problem solve/troubleshoot any issues.   Ideally it will be completely smooth, but any large rollout like this is bound to run into an issue or two.

It is truly stupid to argue that this is somehow Apples fault that disney is activating these terminals on Christmas eve.   It is also good business for Disney to do so.   The park will be open with or without NFC terminals.  Your argument has no valid reasoning.

    Fair point.

My argument was based upon Apple being a shareholder of Disney.

This has nothing to do with Apple as Disney is launching CONTACTLESS payments as a whole which just happens to include Apple Pay along with Google Wallet and others. You read way too much into this for Apple.

I will be looking for this change at Disneyland, since that is a lot closer to me then Disney World. I finally got a chance to use it at a Macy's and I was very impressed with it. I'm so used to getting out my pass id and credit card though, it will be a change, I wonder if they still will require and id for discount when you present your pass. Seems more helpful in downtown Disney then the actual park.

Are they?  I wasn't aware of Apple having any stake in Disney.  Steve Jobs, and now Laurene Powell Jobs, certainly had/have a lot of shares, but Apple itself?

Eh.... Apple isn't a shareholder of Disney, so your "argument" is based on fallacy.

Loraine jobs is a shareholder. So am I. Neither of us are responsible for apple pay or Google wallet being rolled out Christmas eve.

If they get this set up for both purchases and your pass, even perhaps those ride Faat Pass systems, it could be a huge win

Yes ! Plus Disney hotel check-in and room door unlock/lock.

I spent a Christmas in Disneyland with my family. Would love to see Apple Pay and other Apple technologies integrated.
