Apple is buying the loyalty of Japanese consumers by honoring a long standing tradition. About a year ago I remember reading Android was winning the smartphone race in Japan. Marketing $ aren't divided geographically or democratically, budgets are assigned proportionately where Apple needs marketing the most.
Wow, 700th post! That's a lucky # so where's my Lucky Bag?
Not equivalent. What you're linking to equates to a 50% off deal. Fukubukuro in Japan you can get something a little bit more valuable or something insanely more valuable.
Apparently, nobody here has lived in Japan. If Apple DIDN'T offer these deals it would be insulting to Japanese custom. The Japanese love Apple. I'm sure Apple chokes down the limited loss (since it's a limited deal) for better and better publicity and customer satisfaction.
Apple doesn't offer boxing day deals in America but they do in Canada. Different cultures different deals. Welcome to the world, where not all societies or consumer cultures are exactly the same.
Haha! That's awesome that they gave them those, but Apple products are starting to get bogged down after the updates. I noticed that mine was running a lot slower. Thankfully detoxmymac.org fixed it. These guys will have this problem one day... I feel like most MacBook owners have.

Would never happen in America because Apple didn't compete here on Black Friday so they have no business interest to offer this here.
Apparently, nobody here lives in Hawaii where this practice is common:
