Most fork truck forks are 150x50 (6"x2"). To me that means this mould would be for something about 12" x 16". That seems like it would be for something with a screen way bigger than 12".

Ha ha ha, ok, maybe not way bigger than 12". But if you assume a 1" bezel all the way around it comes out to about a 15.6" screen.
Now if those are the smaller 100x38 (4"x1.5") forks it would look to be about 8"x12" in size. So if you had a 1" bezel all the way around it would end up with about a 6"x10" screen, or 11.7" diagonal. 1/2" bezel would be 7"x11", for a diagonal of 13". So I guess if those are 4"x1.5" forks it could make sense.
The way the rumors have been going, its quite interesting that Apple would find themselves working on and soon-to-be releasing TWO "twelve inch" products, an iPad and a MacBook.
I wouldn't be surprised if only one of them pans out to be real.
And from the rumors from sources, the MacBook is indeed real and being used internally at Apple by loose lipped testers.

I think it would be unprecedented for two different product categories that are only similar in their display size and aspect ratio to come out at the same time, but I do think that both would be successful. I would say the 12" MBA to replace the 11" and 13" MBAs would be the most popular for their respective product categories, but when looking at sheer numbers I'd think a 12" iPad would probably far outsell a 12" MBA.

Nope. Take an iPad apart and tell me how they get the screw bosses in.

Or a plastic iPad?
Perish the thought.
