Based on the posts of many commenters in this forum over the years, I'd say quite a few do not understand how Google makes money.

Congratulations for being one of those who actually understand how Google makes money. Many do not.

Not concerning SEC filings. Remember, if you lie in an SEC document, you may be subject to shareholder lawsuits, not just a scolding from the feds.

I get it, but it's just a fair price, and the best value around for my use. . I run AdBlock, donate $20 every year, and that hooks me up most of the time. The majority of what I think Google is doing that affects me is manipulating search results based on what they know about me. This rarely bothers me though, and the majority of the time, it's appreciated.

YMMV. There's been a lot of impending doom from Google's data collection, and yet all it ever does is makes things easier for me. All of my military insurgent revolution plans are run through yahoo! mail behind 8 proxies, so good luck!

Well this bothers me boatloads. Why? Because they really dont know me and I will keep it that way thanks. It maybe is ok if you have bad habits but if you want to keep your eyes open it doesn't really help anything.

If i buy a holiday to some place why would you assume I want to go there again soon? Even it it was GREAT it doesn't always matter. There are other great places to go too?!?

Why homogenize the service advertising to something you have done or bought? If I buy skiis, do you REALLY think I need advertising on new skiis???

I'm not talking about the ads making it easier for me (I only see ads on a few sites anyway, thanks to Adblock). It's the integration that makes it easier for me. When I travel, Google Now has cards up for my flights (with current status), car, and hotel. All I have to do is make sure that my itinerary goes through gmail. Any time an order confirmation comes back, Google Now throws up a card with shipment tracking for the purchase and current status. Autocomplete on web searches is so specific to who I am and what I'm doing, that most searches only take a few letters to get what I need. Even Waze is tapped into my Google calendar and offers one-click navigation to events.

It's like having a concierge lay out my day for me, but constantly.
