This sounds like a desperate move akin to Samsung's power-saving mode, in which the phone goes black and white and functionality is rendered almost completely obsolete.
It also tells us that Apple haven't made some great breakthrough with battery life, so all those worrying about battery life will probably have to wait for the next model, if Apple are still making it by then, or abstain completely.
I agree that it's not really an Apple-type experience, but the battery saver mode on my Moto X is really handy every couple months when it's needed. Combined with a quick charger, I really have a lot more freedom to just use the hell out of the phone all day. These two options for the Apple Watch will really help.
That's right. Just make sure when Samsung puts battery saving mode into their products, you spin it as clever innovation. Samsung certainly does.
I am a longtime Apple fan that simply sees no point in the fabled AWatch (just like the stupid Beats purchase and so on) - moreover, I hate everything remotely related to Samsung, its copycats or even Android in general - so your point is not exactly clear to me.
Perhaps you can do better so how about coming out with your own smart watch to show how clever you are.
If you look at Apple under Jobs historically that's what they've done. 3G, LTE etc were all adopted by Apple long after Android phones had them. That was because Apple waited until the tech had caught up to required battery life among other things. I wonder if they're rushing this to market a little too early given the battery life constraints.
Exactly right - "battery saving mode" is another name for "we have failed to achieve the desired breakthrough"; can't remotely imagine SJ settling with such a kludgy compromise.
Yeah, like the energy saving modes of MacBook pros. Total fail, right?

Thanks for telling us you don't think the Watch will be sucessful.........................FOR THE THOUSANDTH TIME!!!
WE KNOW YOU HATE THE WATCH. STOP.
I'm not sure, but I think you may be getting emotionally involved.

Smartwatches and watches designed for physical training are growing closer and closer together:
Given how many readings had to be explained, modified, or apologized for, and the
seemingly limited navigational approach, this one doesn't really seem all that "smart"...
I'd expect Apple to do much better, but still, is it necessary to have one to know -
but without knowing accurately - that I was recently in a plane?
I still think it will be interesting to see whether these devices make themselves useful enough to be widely successful.
There may be an early bump of excitement and fascination, but will they evolve sufficiently,
as so many other Apple products have, to sustain themselves and their niche?
Dick Tracy, are you listening?
