Mac.com webmail Beta!
Just seen this on MacNN:
[quote]Mac.com Webmail has been released from Apple. The beta version of the web-based Mac.com email allows checking of mail from anywhere, instead of just from a setup email client.

The link is here.
It seems to be quite cool, and it has a Mac OS X mail look about it. Excellent! First impressions are good: it loaded quite quickly on my machine (using dialup).
This has been a long time in coming, and I, for one, am glad it has arrived.

It's not OmniWeb compatible

It is for me. I'm using OmniWeb 4.1 beta 4. Everything works fine.
And I, for one, am VERY happy to see this as I often need to check my mail away from my computer at home or work. I have used mail2web for YEARS but this looks like it will be a nice replacement. I also recently got my mother signed up with a Mac.com account and have been having trouble explaining why there isn't a web interface for it like Yahoo mail has. No more troubles there...
Anyway, this is going to make Mac.com very handy. So far so good, though I wish I could bounce spam from here.

It works for me. What sneakypeek version are you using?
Perhaps OmniWeb's compatibility preferences have to be set so it identifies itself as IE 5.1?

Nope, I've got mine as just plain ol' OmniWeb.
It's the best POP webmail service I've used since http://www.mail2web.com.

Oops - I'm only on beta 2. Didn't realise the new one was out. Anyhow, I'm upgrading now

leech.
It doesn't work on my Windows machine at work. Sure i can access it from my Mac, but then why not just use the e-mail software I have on there? I would love having access to my mac.com e-mail from ANYWHERE, Mac, PC, whatever...
haven't tried it yet,though
I would love having access to my mac.com e-mail from ANYWHERE, Mac, PC, whatever...

Errmm... you can. That's the whole point. Just punch in webmail.mac.com from any web browser and you're in. I can access it fine from Windows 98, ME, NT4, and 2000 with no problems at all.
It's all well and good to discuss with us, but please give Apple the feedback also! That's what Beta's about
